You are is seriously not telling the truth, The skill on your log took way more than 1 second to cast. Also if you got hit by whirling wrath you are is deserve the damage.
Well you triggered all his traps at the same time and then got hit in the face by gs 2. Combat log is pretty normal.

When I get owned in PvP, my first theory has to be that my play was bad. My second has to be that the other player is better. If I don’t start with that, I’ll never improve.
I certainly never blame the game — it’s only a set of tools that I need to learn how to use.
That doesn’t mean it’s impossible for skills to be unbalanced or unfair; it just means the burden is on me to show that it’s not my lack of skill or the opponent’s expertise. The OP hasn’t met that burden.

right, my options were so plentiful in my 1 second fight. I am such a failure. Here’s another thought, don’t make every class where they can one shot anything. less damage per skill and heals take longer to regain them, yes fights would take longer, but then a fight would actually require skill instead of all the single burst bs. What a concept!

Before the PVP burst Meta, there was the bunker Meta. That concept already existed and has evolved.
But there is the one thing I did notice on your screen shot. Your sword three is off cooldown, that would have negated all the damage. (other than the unblockable trap, if he used it)

People will defend DH with thier lives because they are currently playing as one and love having the ability to just place down their “traps” and almost instantly kill someone with very minimal effort.
People defending the class know that its only a matter of time before their power trip comes to an end.
Let them have their fun, DH will eventually be adjusted, just wait it out.
If you’re stupid enough to run into a trap, you deserve whatever happens. That’s the whole point of a trap.
Also, if someone is using their entire skill bar against you, it had kitten well better be able to kill you.

DH is fine, there are some way other overpowered specs. DH is very conditional with its traps. If they don’t work, you have no way to survive. Have you ever thought of practicing more?

So, what you’re saying, is that you literally walked into every trap a DH can throw down, plus were next to them while they used their GS #2 skill. And somehow the game is flawed? Maybe, gee, I dunno, don’t get next to a DH when they have all their traps down?
I’m not going to complain about players standing in my traps, as I play a DH, but good god most good players have figured out how to avoid them by now. There’s really no excuse. You need some solid stability/stun breaks when up against a DH. If you don’t have those slotted, simply avoid going toe to toe with a DH. Just keep throwing dots on them.
Most DH’s will have traps down and literally won’t move away from his traps in the hopes some poor schlub will walk into the exact scenario you are on here complaining about.
Range condition him and LoS so he can’t range you with LB. If he leaves the protection of his traps, then engage him up close. If he dodges back to his traps, don’t chase, go back to ranged conditions.
Melee-ing a DH is a bad idea in general unless you have crazy amounts of dodges (looking at you daredevils). And if you weren’t melee and you still somehow got hit by every trap plus their GS #2, then I’d say go back to the drawing board on your PvPing.

First of all, it is only my second time trying rev for the one referencing me being a rev, secondly the other player was on the far side of the cap at first, so there was no telltale sign he had already been to the mid cap to lay anything, (for all those touting I would know better) the screen shot is not the fight cap it was mid, the screen shot is when I had time to look at the combat log. 3rdly, Why in gods green earth would you give any class traps that are as big as the entire cap, that is just lame at best. Having to kite someone the entire game while they get to cap the cap, as it could and would be on some occasions instants death to even try and contest. Say what you will, DH way Op’d, period! And good luck trying to play any of the older classes without having to go to the new bs builds to even survive. You all enjoy the rest of this thread as I am done with it. Have a great day!

Judging from the amount of trap hits that popped up on that combat log, before you were downed it took a minimum of 4 or 5 seconds to down you.

Partially right. Asking those two questions typically works when u are using a class that can very quickly counter play. For example the revenant could have walked up to the guardian, evaded and blocked to avoid all the damage then used unrelenting assault through the procession while the guardian was bursting with gs.
Where those questions dont work is when you are using a class like necro which is wrapped in chains and has a stick shoved up its kitten where the only counter play is pray you have just enough hp and life force to tank the damage.

Well it can be frustrating when such high damage skills exist. Then it comes to learnig and building your character to avoid / beat it. And not all classes can do it at the same level. I can´t remember loosing to a power based DH with my ele … But if i run into the traps without any preparation i would be dead.
The only big issue I have about DH are the limited dodges at my disposal to evade the obvious big hits.
I believe there is a 0.5 sec animation over a trap before they start doing the damage. I’ve tested it on a necro and you can effectively trigger a trap, dodge it as a result and get next to nothing damage-wise.
The longbow #2 is easy to spot, so if you get an 8k you kinda deserved it.
My only issue is the spear of justice pulling me into his traps. Sure stability helps, but its on such a low cooldown it over takes my stab uptime. And dodging it + #2 LB just indicates I have no dodges left so opens the way for a JI burst.
A quick fix would be to start the CD on traps once they decay or are triggered and give them the ability to remove for a reduced CD. This way DH will have to actually think before laying them and not be able to lay down one layer, then JI + trap on spot.

But its the community thats clearly at fault here, they arent using the all-balance-deciding ESL properly.
Just one match with a full team of rank 5-10 dragon hunters specced for clerics “winning” by agreement over the best team in ESL and Anet would nerf them to oblivion.

Yeah if you get all the traps in the face and eat GS whirl while dazed from the traps it can be pretty savage. What I find interesting is that all those skills are aoe and really don’t require any set up other than to goad people onto the traps, or maybe try to bait dodges before the enemy reaches your traps.

Im going to laugh at you for calling other proffessions “overpowered” while playing The most overpowered proffession currently available.
Now, Dragonhunters performance in anything competitive or Competent has been so bad its actually Already deleted from the Meta builds, Its Representation is only outdoing Warriors and Thiefs right now, and its the only proffession that they fail to find even a Single player to recommend to watch for the proffessions gameplay.
This is some overhyped bull created by Low – Medium MMR kids who have no understanding of the game mechanics let alone a proffessions mechanics and needlessly die to things with upfront refusual to actually learn, they rather blame the proffessions they’re dying to and feel good about themselves afterwards.
The Dragonhunter is actually severely flawed, all its damage ramped into Stationary Utilities and its 2 has ment its entire skillset is a one trick pony Once u outplay that one Initiation the Dragonhunters left with very little to comeback with, this sounds really awesome to a new player in solo queues but actually is pretty ineffective the moment u fight anyone who actually knows what they’re doing.
Lets ignore the fact u could have simply used Heralds Healing capability to stand in the Damage and actually heal urself to full instantly, putting the DH on CD which in a 1v1 u could have easy Unrelenting assaulted them and blitz ur Damage out ontop of them while they await on a trap CD to do anything in return, by then u’d be sitting on ur healing again thats even if they managed to survive that long.

Ur sitting on one of the very few things this game needs to bring the nerfs upon, DH needs to be Re-evaluated, because right now its a pubstomper with very little capability after that. so i wouldnt be walking around putting out posts about “what is overpowered” advertising the fact your playing the FoTM
