that’s a good question that only the devs can answer. it really makes no sense at all.

because people pay to look shiny, standard models take that away from them

but they still look shiny and they CAN see it, even with standard models ON. it only changes enemy models, duh

Using standard models, btw, is kind of stupid when you face 2 players using the same class… imagine being against 2 mesmers who look EXACTLY the same.. trust me, it’s hell on earth.

They really should put it in all PvP arenas. I’m an asura and I sure as heck don’t care whether you see my shiny armor or not. The color is already overridden anyways. There are small tournaments out there that are more frequent than ToG and I would like to participate… but asurans are banned. Now, if they would just add the option to change character models to all arenas, this problem is solved and a portion of the playerbase is no longer excluded/forced to pay for more character slots.

I must admit, I’m a bit puzzled why it’s only active for Tournaments and tPvP. Why not just have it on for all PvP modes if that’s what the player wants? Only they get to see the different models, after all.
