bad at revenant
Thing is as follows. Hammer for Rev might seem a good weapon at first glance but there’s a few problems with it. First of all it requires rather good positioning to work efficiently in a teamfight. Secondly it is worthless in a 1v1 situation because of how predictable the attacks are. And last but not least it offers no sustain other than a frontal projectile destroy.
To summarize: Do not use a hammer, or if you do be a hella good player. Use staff instead(good dmg, cleanse, heal, block and ridiculous CC)
ps. Also since you are not oo familiar with the class I would definitely not recommend some full dps build, instead grab a paladin amulet and trait the retribution line for increased sustain. After you’ve become more accustomed then move to marauder amulet(gotta love 94% crit chance with fury)

Lose the Hammer. Learn Marauder and Invocation build. Don’t go Paladin Retribution, that build is worthless. Tickle damage and no real sustain.

So, ok, hammer – is situational weapon, but what benefit has retribution, cuz i runnin’ with invocation (just for stunbrake+dmg)? It’s hard to refuse hammer, like this guy(

Its horrid compared to staff. It can’t handle being focused. It’s too slow to fight in smaller fights, 1 v 1, 2 v 2 etc. Staff has a 2 sec block no cast time on a 10 sec CD, 2 condi clear + small heal on 15 sec CD, and a large damage + heavy CC/Stability stripping + evade skill with almost no cast time and a 20 sec CD.
Hammer is decently offensive, granted your opponent isn’t paying attention. Defensively it’s useless.
