can someone explain me, matchmaking
In theory, matchmaking matches you based on who you’ve previously won against or lost to, independent of rank. Rank is just an indication of how long you’ve played, not your actual skill level.
Of course, there are other factors that might pit you against people of much greater skill than you. If the number of people in queue is small, it might not be possible to match you appropriately, so the algorithm does the best it can. Whether or not the other team is a premade competition team is also a factor in how difficult the match will be.
I also think the matchmaking system is “unfair” and needs quite a bit of work. Hopefully, Anet’s on that.
Can be, I mean I played 446 games, of which I won 246, so I do have positive % win ratio. But it’s nothing too good for me to constantly be paired with higher ranks.
I guess then need to look at their system.
I mean it’s not so bad, I still win more then I lose, but I would like to play vs. and with people who have about the same experience as me

The system aims for “equal” matching based on Anet’s correlates of skill (described on the wiki in the link above), so as long as you are winning around 50%, it’s working fine. If you are going on long winning or losing streaks, then something is wrong.
Matchmaking is broken. Even worse, ANET is now using “rank” as part of he equation. Let me make it clear for ANET. “NO ONE CARES ABOUT RANK. WE ONLY CARE ABOUT ACTUAL SKILL IN THE GAME”
Match people of similar skill based on ACTUAL results. If a person has no actual results, start them at the bottom and let them work up. It isn’t that hard.

Rank is an indication of experience, and unless the person is a pro player that bought a new account to troll, a r80 will stomp a r20 much more than 50% of the time. The exceptions to this may be the people who are really r10 but exploited custom arena with birthday boosters back when it was bugged to get r80. Those are only a tiny portion of the population.

Wow. I can’t believe that someone is actually arguing that rank is more important than actual game ranked queue performance. I’m speechless.
Anet system matches you with a team vs a team.
One team is expected to win
The other team is expected to lose
If your expected to lose and you win you get +2 or +3 leaderboard points.
If your expected to win and you win you get +1 leaderboard points.
If your expected to lose and lose you get +1 0 -1 leaderboard points.
If your expected to win and you lose you get -2 -3 leaderboard points.
Ok, but like i said on the other thread, why aren’t top players ( i.e ones on top50) not losing many points ? Right now again, #27 got +1 wins + 3 loses and ends up with +4 rating points.
Now i get it’s quite complicated since it’s 5v5 and not 1v1, but still.. It’s a good thing experience is rewarded, i am all for it, but if someone on these ranks is ending up with a good boost losing 75% of his matchs, it is going to be hard to get on their rank spot…
