this build has been around for soo long and it is still one of the strongest pvp builds… getting hit for a 9k stun chain by a soldier hambow is not fun at all and even if i dodge pindown, arcing arrow and the 3 hammer stuns it doesn’t matter because the same will happen again 10-15 seconds later. fights against hambows usually take a long time and sooner or later you will get hit..

i don’t mind getting stunned if i’m not able to dodge the hits but actually dodging them is not as rewarding as it should be…

so please decrease the damage the skills do by 20%, stuns shouldn’t hit high at all… and increase the auto attack damage for compensation.

i know that an additional culprit is might/intelligence but as arenanet isn’t going to nerf the might cap they should at least look at the stuns.

and no this is not a l2p problem.

I suspect that the feature patch might change things. Granted, it won’t change the sigil of intelligence, which offers too many stacks, but it will tackles adrenaline – if the adrenaline is consumed when the Combustive Shot misses, and consequently Cleansing Ire doesn’t proc, then you’ll have the nerf you expect (and the one that should be done anyway). AFAIK, no information is yet available on that.

Now, hambow is thought for zone control, with the hard control of the hammer, the fire zone of the bow, tanky stats, invulnerabilities and stun breakers. Challenging it where it’s strong, while possible, is probably not a good idea, so one might want to take advantage of areas where it is lacking, i.e. mobility (only has the hammer burst) and active defense (no blocks, no evades). In other words, you can defeat a hambow simply by ranging it, or by kiting in/out the hammer chain / pin down. I’m pretty sure you know it already though, my point is simply: if you don’t have the right build for it, then maybe it’s not a good idea to engage.

I really hope they soon provide other PvP game modes than Conquest, so that we can face other types of builds.

afaik combustive shot cannot miss unless you blind the warrior. not engaging it on a point when the warrior tries to decap it is not an option. sadly onpoint spam is greatly encouraged by conquest. avoiding the fire field is not an option either as it covers the whole point.

My medi guard eats hambows alive as it is. Hell even that PU mes i was running over a USB 3G stick was punishing them hard… Stealing 18 stacks of might and watching them drop got me every time XD

Hambow has been nerfed.

The adrenaline rework makes it so that they lose all adrenaline when they either hit or miss the burst attack.

5x Warrior, 5x Ranger, 4x Elementalist, 4x Engineer,

Hugely a l2p problem, sorry. It’s hugely rewarding to dodge an Earthshaker, Staggering Blow, Backbreaker or Pin Down.

Even more so when they will lose adrenaline and NOT proc Cleansing Ire.

Why are you even making this thread right before the big changes to Warrior are coming in September? /Facepalms infinite times

adren loss on miss is okay and human stereotype models too, although not for soloQ, but that’s 1/3 hammer stuns. against a hambow you have to dodge 5 skills which he can use in a window of 10 seconds with a cooldown of 10-20 seconds while you get 1 dodge every 10 seconds.

want to kite a warrior? np zerk stance. want to knock one down? np dolyak/balanced stance. even soft cc is not effective because of dogged march.

the amount of effort it takes for you to kill a hambow compared to vice versa is just wrong. believe it or not, try to defend warriors as much as you want but it is the truth.

yes pu mes is quite effective against them. when i play my medi guard it is a bit easier to kill a hambow with the blinds and blocks i have.

Just stop your over-analysis and wait 10 days. Lots of what you’re saying is crap too. Only one dodge every 10 seconds to stop a Hambow burst.. woe is you.

Warriors are beatable 1v1. However, they’re never beatable if you’re too bad to duel for 30-60 seconds before dying, this is due to the nature of stances. They’re like a brick wall that discourages new to medium experience players. Lots of games have roles that boost your combat ability off the ground even if you haven’t really mastered it yet.

Playing Warrior is indeed a bit of a free pass to either survive a few mistakes, or survive for a fair amount of time. There is no instant punishment of death for being bad, as there would be for a Thief/Mesmer.

However, once a player masters their defensive positioning and dodges a few Earthshakers, you’ll find that Warriors have just as hard a time killing you than you will have by killing them.

Post-patch, when playing at a mastered level of skill, a player will read the standardized model Warrior’s combos and react to them. Since the change to cleansing Ire is going in, it’s like a double whammy to the Warrior’s 1v1 matchup prospects, which will then be average.

we will see. combustive shot is still a 100% cleansing ire no matter the nerf. of course they are beatable 1v1 i have to deal with them almost every match. all i am saying is that the hammer should not hit for as much as it does.

as i said i don’t mind getting stunned when i can’t dodge the attack but getting chain cced for up to 10k damage is not how it should be. if you take necros for example if they don’t run sigil of energy on both weapons they are having a really hard time against a hambow.

Hammer is a low damage, CC weapon. That is what it is. However so is celestial ele and engi..the issue is when these low damage sustain builds receive 15+ stacks of might and run runes that increases damage while under the effects of might and are also chalking up bloodlust stacks. The situation has been mentioned, but not addressed in next patch. So look forward to another 6+ months of it.

this isn’t solely about the CC…this is about the ridiculously high damage you can deal even with the auto chain, but yeah,make 1 mistake and my stun chain of 4k crits begins.
the damage is too high for the weapon, i’m not arguing against the CCs,
it is a CC weapon it should have good CCs just not damage numbers that you’d expect to see with greatsword/axe.

You don’t see that number on gs/axe zerk war just because gs/axe is a crap yolo spec with more than half of your dps that will never land on a decent player, if you land everything zerk gs/axe would have like twice the dps of a soldier hambow…problem is that you will never land key skills on someone who is half decent without cc, that goes for basilisk venom, for kd before ele burst, for daze before shatter and so on..and for war stuns ofc…if someone gets hit by a full hb without being cc’ed has better to quit pvp already…no joke

Good players don’t run gs/axe lol …i know a few good wars running dat for no reason and even if they’re good with it (Like signoritas that always used gs and probably one of the best gs war around) they are just underpowered no matter what…it just doesn’t work outside dpsing downed ppl.

zerk burst is only viable on thief and shatter mesmer since everything else is gonna get rekt by other thieves (Mes is getting rekt too but still have really good teamfight power and portal mobility so it can be sort of viable in a good team made for running mesmer. if you have a thief sitting on opponent’s thief 24/7 ofc)
