Well, none of the guardian or thief meta builds used cele, but I still see your point. Man, its been discussed over and over to death by many people of all skill levels and eloquencies, but nothing has been done. Celestial is supposed to represent a mid point for people wanting to do both a little bunkering and a little damage. The amulet itself is fine, the issue here is might stacking. Maybe they can put a cap at 10-15 might stacks for celestial users OR create two versions of it with one rocking the power/precision/fero and the other one rocking condi. I suppose this wouldn’t make it much different than some of these new amulets that we’ve gotten, but I feel that a change like this wouldn’t be that game breaking for cele users.

Having your own build doesn’t mean it’s worse or you can’t kill/win over Meta builds/teams.

and yes, usually not using the meta is a disadvantage. it’s meta for a reason. you can try to be the special snowflake you want to be but your opinion doesn’t change why things become meta: they’re better than almost all other options in almost all scenarios.

You mean change/delete thief, mesmer, burn guard, revenant sword, scrapper, dragonhunter, minion necro… basically every build that can spike. THere’s a reason marauder is the burst amulet, not zerker, and it’s not just thief.

I really think the problem is that the total number of stat points available on celestial is ridiculous. All amulets should have normalized stat points. You are truly gimping yourself by running any 3 stat amulet because of the amount of points you are missing.

The problem removing the survivability is that cele is SUPPOSED to be a 3/5 in every aspect. The boon stacking is what takes it to 5/5.
How about nerfing all of the current stats by 20%, adding expertise and concentration and leaving it at that? With boon stacking, they’d still be strong, but not OP as all hell.

How do you survive on marauder? You kite, manage cooldowns, counterpressure, position and be aware of enemies, none of this works against thief.

almost every single nerf i’ve campaigned for has happened though. you can look through my post history from day one and i’ve pretty much always have made spot on nerf suggestions.
every time i bring something up for balance discussion i’ve brought serious points of argument, articulated upon them, and given logical reasoning to the best of my abilties. getting upset that someone is calling you out for exploiting something and attacking the person, like you’ve just done, is the exact opposite form of discussion i try to open up.

Many people did not know the boon duration didn’t work which would make it better. It was really only good on Guardian, bunker Necromancers, Tempest but Celestial was better and my bunker Thief so I could stand a chance against the DH spam. Also Druids with boon duration would also be an upgrade since pets hit hard enough.

I’m not an expert (as I keep saying), but even I can I totally see that it is either going to be of too much use to a profession/spec/build, or of virtually no use at all (depending on their individual stat priorities/values).

Look at Elementalist? They removed Minstrel’s because of the Druid complaints instead of nerfing Druids, which they still will be doing nearly the exact same thing in 1 vs 2-3s with a Cleric’s, I used to do the same thing on my Cleric’s Ranger but Druid is a pure upgrade to that build. So they should remove amulet to “balance” Elementalist like Druids but Elementalist is already a jack of all trades that only had this as a choice to amplify it’s base.
Elementalists atm have no damage if we spec into sustain, and no sustain if we spec into damage. I think its highly irrelevant to talk about eles now as they have been phased out.

When did Elementalist get phased out, that won’t happen till Celestial gets removed so then you lose the build to sustain and damage at once.
Look at the sorry state of ele atm lol. We are outclassed by other elite specs. We have once been top represented class in pvp yet look at us now.

Fire D/D ele is still strong in 1v1s, but doesn’t bring the damage or utility to teamfights as well post-HoT, since its still limited by the longish ramp up time for might stacking, and things like dragonhunter trap bombs can burst it kind of easily. Stone heart ele works a lot better since it can whether the burst, but the damage isn’t there at all. Fresh Air Cele tempest with D/F is a bit odd, but I feel as though it fits the current meta better since it doesn’t need mightstacking to put strong AoE on a point, and the auraheal support is a lot stronger than most people expect, while earth focus 5 helps it whether bursts.

Basically. And even then if you are running shouts, you are very vulnerable to cc and focus fire. No mobility at all too.

Look at the sorry state of ele atm lol. We are outclassed by other elite specs. We have once been top represented class in pvp yet look at us now.
I always said that CeleDDele needs to be buffed.
And yet people whined that it’s op and needs to be nerfed.

That’s why Thief has been Mesmer’s hardcounter for the past 2 years, a trend that was only broken during the temporary PU meta. You’re right, 1v1 tournaments are accurate and indicative of the conquest meta, which Mesmer has only been a part of for the past 4 months, prior to that having been basically irrelevant for almost a year.
TL;DR Hardly. Thief pushed other zerk classes out of the meta long before cele or might stack was ever a thing. Mesmer only managed to stay relevant for its utility. It was always an inferior Thief as far as burst/spike roles are concerned.
Why was rampage war meta for a while? Why was meditation guardian meta for longer?
Even if all the QQ is real, how does this justify thief’s current spot? At the moment, if rangers could send pets to decap we would be deleted. This just sounds like salty Mesmer QQ about being hard countered for a period of time. Well now, thief hard counters no one and is hard countered by several builds. At least mesmer was a pain for other melee classes in the past. But I guess that’s OK right? Just because we were meta before, lol and we’re still ‘meta.’
Also, a thief that cannot burst is worthless. All the other zerk classes that were pushed out of play at least have other builds that can focus on both sustain and damage in a viable way. A thief that isn’t glass won’t do kitten. If we put in any sustain, it truly shows in the damage we put out, ex. Marauder seriously 5k backstab is lucky to me. If we try to sustain with our active defenses, we lose the point. If anything is to blame, it is thief’s lack of build diversity.

mesmer out damages thief though and almost always has. mesmer could also compete 1v1 with d/p thief (the dominant post-s/d meta build pre-spec update) by taking s/t over staff and Mantra of Distraction, something that has become meta now because so many finally realized how good it is.
also, mesmer has always shut out more professions from using power over the years by having landslide matchups against power engie, necro, warrior, and elementalist. mesmer also has much better matchups against power ranger and guardian than thief as well. so in what world has thief pushed anything out of the power meta that mesmer hadn’t long already?

I think patchnotes have to be better. Otherwise we infer what they mean by ‘healthy gameplay’. Why not just tell us the exact reason the Runes and Amulet needed to go?
Well, one the abjured elaborated on that point telling us that the reason was most likely how powerful minstrel was at top tier. According to him, he said that matches would actually go on until the time limit was reached and, in some cases, the scores wouldn’t even be close to 500.
Although no one actually understands the reasoning being the removal of the runes. My best guess would be because they summoned AI and with the recent AI buff, they’ve become a tad bit obstructive (nothing that can’t easily be dealt with by switching targets for a second, but nonetheless). I suppose venom share and virtue of justice could’ve been an issue if they procced with those minions (not sure).
I second this, if Anet wants a healthy environment, they need to remove Celestial Amulet or Nerf the stats hardcore like 20%, and also nerf passive damages such as conditions, bleeding/burning/torment/poison/chill/fear that every condis deals damage passively.

AI buffs didn’t affect PvP and the ogre runes were pretty much the meta of the first year but went unchanged, now the pet is weaker because everything else is a lot stronger than launch.
