I don’t think, MMR calculation has changed. If you get matched against higher MMR, you are expected to lose and your MMR won’t be affected (it is still independent from division/pips).

It’s way more complicated than that.
Last season, the pips wins even if you lost a game… was some reflection about how you can gain MMR even if you lose versus some teams.
For Season 2, Anet did stop using MMR to find match versus other team, this is supposed to give better queue time…. but, at the end, it will destroy the sPVP casual population.
Odd since Anet cater to casuals since launch.
