condi tanks
True, a lot of condition specs are way too tanky- while still having great access to damage (condis) and aoe cleave.
The trouble may be due to:
1) The only requirement for good condition damage is condition damage itself. Power damage requires power and at the very least a good amount precision and some crit damage.
2) While condis can be cleansed, most power based attacks have better animations and are easier to dodge and are affected by protection.
This topic never goes well. The only way condis will ever be balanced in this game is if another stat is required for them. Simply introducing a condi reducer (like toughness/armor) or simply pretending vitality is the anti-condition stat is clearly not enough when the class can stack condition damage, vitality, and toughness. How you do this is anyone’s best guess, but the whole game needs this and not just sPvP. If it were just sPvP they could do something like reduce the condi cap to 15.
The easiest method is to simply allow conditions to crit and reduce their base damage by a large . Alternatively you could change condis to get 50 of their damage from condition damage and 50% from healign power or something along those lines.
Or make it single target so no cleave team fight carry gg. Turns it into “this individual person needs to be pressured lock him down!”
For anything that has to be AoE have it be channeled. Or nerfed to minor short ticks of dot . Accompanied 4-5 second base disabling effect that isn’t hard CC.

Anet could easily fix this problem by greatly reducing condition damage on all skills which would force players to supplement condition damage with power + precision.
To make it more clear:
1)Currently, Berserker needs power + precision + crit damage % (3 different stats) on their gear to do damage.
2) This change would force condition builds to require condition damage + power + precision to do damage (3 different stats) on their gear to do damage.
This would also fix all the QQ about condition immunity skills like berserker stance, diamond skin, and automated response since these skills would not prevent the incoming damage from power/precision.
Conditions will still be useful for locking down your opponent (blind/fear/daze/weakness/chill/immob) and adding armor-piercing DPS (bleeds/burn/torment/terror/poison).
Of course, I realize that this idea will not be popular since it will force all of the people building for vit + toughness + condi damage to reconsider if they want to dps or to tank instead of having their cake and eating it too.
Edit: I wanted to clarify that condition duration isn’t really a useful dps stat unless it’s a 1v1 fight since condi-cleave maxes out duration + stacks in seconds. It’s a useful stat for skills that disable the player (immob/chill/fear etc).

But then wouldn’t they need 4 stats? Because if you’re suggesting they use the weapon’s base damage they’d want crit damage too.
It’s all the same general concept though… if power attacks need 3 stats, conditions should too. This is why I think just allowing conditions to crit and reducing their base damage by a lot.
Probably too late in the game for something like this though as too much and you run the risk of just shifting everything to burst kills. Would be nice if both condis and power were viable.
Condition based necromancers are fine aslong as they arent running dhummfire/terror build, however i believe the condi warriors are over the op due to the fact that they can apply torment constantly and also being the tankiest class in the game due to high armor rating/ a high health pool.
PS: Condition damage is important to a condi build (obviously) aswell as a decent amount of precision so that you can apply 2 more bleeds, one coming from a trait and the other coming from the superior sigil of earth.

I agree. I’ve had many soloq games today with necros and eles against 2 warriors and 2 engineers and it’s simply not fun.
Why is this still not adressed?
Because it wouldn’t increase Item Mall profits.
