The build you’re talking about has been around for ages and really took off when HoT came out due to the extra whirl finisher + condis on dodge. The only reason you didn’t see it as much last patch was because condi reaper/mesmer/etc were all so much better.
DB is rather easy to counter. The range is limited and the thief has little directional control.
The thief that just tries to spam deatblossoms against a competent opponent will soon be dead. This also true with unload spam, heartseeker spam and vault spam all oh which do more damage.

Wrong. The change to Lead Attacks buffed the build, giving +15% condi dmg with an uptime of almost 100%.

They can also more readily take assassins reward for added heals. regen on PR has higher uptime meaning upper hand not as needed to fill in the gaps. Of course they will give up that INI gain but with assassins and regen running , coupled with the heal , they can readily refill health. This ensures more condition removal off GI if they go that route.
I want them to take the initial attack away from pistol whip as I like the evade but hate loading the cc when I want to use it defensively.
