Guild Wars 2

For them official hotjoin servers hosted by anet,
please make it such that:
1. spectator mode disabled. players cannot enter spectator mode.
2. auto joining teams. no choosing red or blue team.
3. late comers automatically joins losing team if the teams are even.

this will fix spectator mode and auto-balance abuse.
those who wish to spectate can do so in player owned custom arenas.

well i heard too many horror stories of 4 v 5 in solo arena, and skyhammer horror stories, etc. so i would avoid solo arena.

team arena is fun with my friends, but nowadays i am the backup player, they only ask me if they do not have enough players.

so i still play hotjoin mostly.

but yeah team arena with 4 other friends is really good, even though we lost the match, it is still a better game.

The remove of spectator is a little harsh,
they should create 2 options>
1-join the match as player.whit the option to join spectator mode but cant return back to the battlefield.

2-join the match as spectator. Cant join the battlefield, cant chat in map.

I dont understand how come the real Guild wars have so much option due the spectator option for GvG tournaments and this Guild wars lacks.

I don’t think you should be able to see the score when joining, either. It’s super common to be playing an uneven hotjoin and never have the numbers even up because no one wants to join the losing team and people seem to wait and join the winning side when someone finally evens out the numbers. I know that those types of players don’t get even rewards, but this still happens. Happens in almost every hotjoin game I join.

i think you mean enable spectator mode in team arena and solo que, cause noone wants to watch people in hotjoin being terrible, they want to watch the top teams.

indeed, the current situation of hotjoin is quite unbearable.

well, if the idea of disabling spectator mode for anet hotjoin games is not acceptable for some people, i have another topic regarding adding new features to the auto-balance in another new topic.

well, that can’t work, since spectators might be able to communicate with the teams currently playing.

we don’t have observer mode from guild wars 1 in guild wars 2 unfortunately.

observer mode from guild wars 1 is something like a delayed live telecast, the observers are watching the match live, but with a certain delay, so they cannot communicate what they see to the players currently playing.

I used to enjoy hotjoins before spectator mode was added. It used to be a fun brawling area. Now you need to join numerous servers, mostly finding that teams are full, or that the majority of the people in the room are in spectator mode trolling/afking/stealing builds. I’m tempted to buy a custom arena just to set the rules like oldschool hotjoin, but I’m sure it would disappear into obscurity like most custom arenas.

And yeah, the Gw1 observe mode was so much better than this trash. It was unbiased and always showed top games. Gw2 spectator mode shows you uncompetitive pvp 24/7 and occasionally you can watch a competitive tournament (on a third party site…twitch)—completely dictated by one of ArenaNet’s “Authorized Shoutcasters”. Or through a limited POV of one player streaming as they play.

Just do a solo queue into a team queue match. It is a much better experience than regular solo queue and you don’t need to play spirit watch or skyhammer. Both of those maps are horribly balanced.

Some people don’t want to play ranked games but want to enjoy the similar fun or competitive experience outside of it. Suggesting to play different game modes does not fix the OP’s, and many others, current hot join experience. This would be a good change along with whoever suggested not showing the score upon joining a game.

I also would like a reward track freeze for 15 minutes when you leave a match before the match is over.
