disconnection penalty is poorly designed

Even if in the short run it sounds excessive, in the long run it doesn’t make that much difference.
Lowering the penalty open space for abuse.
If you disconnect consistently enough for this to be a problem, it’s not fair for your teammates.

If anything, disconnects should be more strict to discourage character swapping.

And it’s fair that you DC due to server issues and get a loss for that?
You can not abuse conditions that are difficult to meet. For example 1. your team must win & 2. player must be in top 8 scorers. Even only “your team must win” is hard to achive after 1min disconnection, so where do you see space to abuse ?
Of course if reconnection time is faster than 60s, then additional conditions aren’t checked.
If both conditions are meet player did not receive penalty for over 60s(or whatever current number is) reconnection.
Current system only encurage me to leave suche a game completly, because when i’m back and my reconnection time is too long, i know that even if i will lead my team to win, i will be punished… NO THANKS, next time i will go in meantime to do something else. And that is why this is poorly designed, current system doesn’t enqurage you to help your team after too long reconnection time.
It is poorly designed but not because of the reasons you listed. They need to put in quickly escalating time bans from rated spvp for disconnects over the grace period. I had two this weekend were people left at the beginning of the match and never came back. That sort of thing should be punished with a day ban.

This is why I pretty much refuse to party any longer. Utterly sick of getting -3 because I accepted a party request and then someone I don’t even know dc’s, rage quits, or simply leaves just to be obnoxious. When winning mostly earns a single point, losing three points is just too costly to risk teaming up.
