I have been struggling to figure out the ele in spvp. am rank 15 now.

The issue i am having is that im not having fun playing the spvp game. No “that was cool” moments. no thrill of a close match. no thrill of victory. no thrill of defeat.

All i feel when playing is a constant slight frustration. Nothing feels effective. my big attack does not really do any damage or just plain misses. This is not a dig on the ele. I understand the ele well enough. I switched up to a mesmer and felt the same thing.

My score is sometimes on the top of list but it didnt feel that way while playing the game. I always feel like im on the bottom. My score is higher than the people i can not beat in combat.

Does it get more fun once i understand the game more? Is the learning curve more like eve and if i stick with it ill like it.

or is it just not designed to be fun? More designed for tournaments and such.

So you played the strongest class (mesmer) and still didn’t have fun? I don’t know man, maybe you don’t like Guild Wars 2 combat? Mesmer should be pretty strong if you have the correct build, Phantasms.

Main: Thief
Alts: Warrior, Necromancer, Mesmer, Elementalist (bunker)

Mesmer was the easiest profession to learn for me. Warrior was a bit hard at start, but after some practice it wasn’t a big deal. Thief is double edged sword untill you learn to evade/reset at the right time.

I would suggest you try Mesmer phantasm build, then warrior greatsword build and then thief which has three builds you can play, backstab, condition or venom share.

Necromancer and Elementalist would come after those three, though my Elementalist is a bunker, not damage.

Main: Thief
Alts: Warrior, Necromancer, Mesmer, Elementalist (bunker)

If you get satisfaction from kills, then the thief seems to be the best for that (Note: only class I’ve never played is Engineer and Mesmer). The reason this is so, is because you have to work for it (since the thief is squishy and can’t exactly just go head on without worry against other classes).

I find the easiest class to play and win would be the Guardian, since the Guardian excels in melee. With several blocks and blinds and boons, the Guardian can generally go into the fray with little worry. But I also find it one of the most boring to play.

I’ve played the Elementalist the most in sPvp compared to the other classes, because there were just a lot of builds that came to my mind that I wanted to try out with the Elementalist. My Elementalist is set up with high mobility, support capability, and good damage to beat non-bunker builds. The Ele can’t kill strong bunkers, because they lack poison, weakness, chill and boon removal. Anyways, one point I want to make is that you have to realize that certain classes excel at certain things. If you’re looking for classes that can apparently kill any other class/build, then you need to look at the thief, necromancer, or mesmer.

It doesn’t get better. Every game starts to feel exactly the same. Not to be a bummer. =p

Only thing I really enjoy or bother to do in Spvp now is play on FoeFire/Khylo with gimmicky long ranged or glass cannon builds just for fun.
