everything is this "boring hybrit something"
InB4 the thread gets locked. Yes, you’re right, everyone has too much capability. There are no clearly defined roles. Sadly, I don’t see that changing any time soon.
I just want to point 2 things.

Things will constantly evolve and changing in a healthy mmo, this is as it should be, and as long as i see this and understand why changes are made then I can still have fun (faster balance passes should be high priority though).
You were unhappy 2 years ago with pvp, and your still unhapppy 2 years on, sometimes a gamestyle just does not suit people. GW2 spvp is not going to give you what you want by the look of things, its not that style of game, indeed many player revel in the build and role diversity you get annoyed at – especially if you are prepared to compromise on optimization for builds you enjoy as a player. Look at GW1, the PVP was so good because of the constant build and role setups you could play with and many hope GW2 will make strides in this area.

Not to be to blunt here but honestly yes there are issues with the game, pvp, wvw, pve , raid etc… but the majority of the comments I’ve heard and read can boiled down the game doesn’t cater to my personal play style so it must be terrible and everybody that disagrees with me are idiots. I really would like these individuals to show us all this mythical unicorn of the prefect game that they have played. Sorry for the rant but it is tiresome to see that wall of text again and again from somebody with little or no point other than I don’t like it change it, if your unhappy with the state of play move on to something else for yourself maybe you’ll find something you are happy with.

Interesting that you make the comparison with GW1. In that game we have to make decisions. We cannot choose to be a heal tank AND a heavy damage dealer.
That, in my opinion, is the biggest current issue with the game.
We cannot choose to be a heal tank AND a heavy damage dealer.
We can’t do that here either.
It’s just that people have been running bruisers for soo long that people don’t even know what “heavy damage” is.
Compare the damage of a strength/tactics/berserker warrior with zerker+might runes to how much damage a meta defense/discipline/berserker warrior does. The meta warrior doesn’t even do half the dps of the glass warrior.
None of the meta sPvP builds are “heavy damage,” however when the average HP of targets is only 17k you don’t need much damage to kill people.

Perhaps, but no one would run a glass warrior. They’d be roadkill in a heartbeat. that’s part of the point I’m making.

And that’s the thing about PvP. Glassy is undesirable when playing against players.
This isn’t a design problem, it’s a fundamental law about how PvP works. Risks are never worth it because your opponent will exploit them.

That´s where you are wrong. The game has mechanics like stealth and invulnerability, blocks, dodges. It should be very possible to play glass versions of classes.
I played zerks the whole 1 1/2 year very successfully.
And they can also customize thinks like mobility ect.
But what anet does is equalizing everything. And thats my issue.

And those mechanics are why glass isn’t viable. There is no point in 20k 100b if the enemy can just stealth/invul/block/dodge out. Damage avoidance means that raw dps can’t secure you a win.
If we didn’t stealth/invuls/blocks/dodges glass cannon would actually be the optimal way to play because it would be able to consistently instakill everything.

as i said if its balance you are referring to that is different.

Anet invests too little resources to keep PvP attractive. Build diversity and this boring hybrids thing has been an issue for far too long. Old trait and utilities and weapons never get rework. It takes way too long for some marginal balance updates. However, the balance at the moment is not so bad (basically every profession has a viable build). Its just boring, and you get a lot of the same matches. Upgrading professions to have at least 2 different viable builds in pvp would already be a huge step for improvement.
