face palm, a patch response
loving this patch. nerf to weapon switching on its own will change the meta. oh and hey, rangers are back.
Loving my ranger with the improved melee pet tracking and buff to longbow projectile speed!
Laughing at warriors for being relegated to the “needs a babysitter class” (also feeling immensely sorry for them as well because of how terrible a “class design” that is for anyone to be burdened with)
For some reason finding it impossible to kill an ele (even more so than before) since they all seem to have perma protection and perma regen now. So kitten frustrating!
Still though, loving my ranger and feeling fairly viable on a team now so w00t!

Ahh, I’m a point control build. 3 aoe immobilize, 2 knockdowns, aoe fear, longbow aoe, 4 evasions, etc. 2230 power, 1870 toughness 1850 vitality (3k attack, 2800 armor, 22k hp).
Though I did mess around with a lynx, a jaguar, a shortbow and a rampager’s necklace earlier tonight and dug the holy hell out of it so I can see where you’re chewing people up now. Yay for melee pets actually tracking targets and connecting!

mesmes and ele are GODS now, just saying

They were before so… no change.

Mesmers have gotten a trait that gives them 20+ stacks of might easily, and Elementalists have gotten a new bug that allows them to give 30 seconds or more of protection/ swiftness/ fury to themselves and the party. Yeah.
Let me recapitulate those patch notes in practice:
- D/D Bunker eles have now even more boon duration (it’s a bug, but still)
– Mesmer shatters are now even stronger, and phantasms were fixed
– Thieves have their only unviable weapon set (so thieves say anyway) buffed (p/p)
– Rangers pets do now more damage than their master, will still follow you to the other side of the map, and no more strafe-dodging their arrows from 1200 distance.
– Sigils apply to Engi’s kits, which changes…next to nothing for them.
Really guys? Really?
Anet sets goals for each class.
Patch notes and reality are complete opposite of those goals and previous statements made about competitive ideals.
Response is shockingly negative… riiiight…. yeaaaaaaah. I’m gonna need you to come in on your day off. We’re a little short handed this week and we need to play a little “catch-up”. Thanks.
I am a little put off by that post. It really doesn’t seem concrete enough. I get the feeling it was put together in light of the current meta rather than where they wish the balance for classes to be. I can’t say I agree the current meta matches the identities of each profession the best. Definitely makes me worry when the origin of each profession isn’t really ironed out or may inherently have anti-fun elements attached to it.

It’s because there is currently a bug that is granting them way more protection than intended.

AH! Well that would explain it then. Hopefully it’ll get sorted out in due time but until then such a small change as increased projectile speed for my LB (no more “dodging” my arrows by simply doing the movement people would be doing anyways in combat) and increased melee pet tracking has made the QoL on my ranger much higher. Other classes can deal with the ele’s much better so I am just avoiding them and blowing up warriors and thieves like dropping bombs on puppies.
