gw2 pvp is awful: here's why
You’re joking, right? 5v5 teamfights are just a mess of AoE and crazy effects. 1v1 and 2v2 fights are much more skill based and interesting. Conquest was probably the only mode to prevent fracturing the player base (LoL actually deleted a game mode/map recently for this reason). Also, if they allowed capping when you have more people on a point it would totally screw up point defending and invalidate a large number of builds and key strategies.
PvP has issues, but none of your suggestions are even remotely helpful.

The problems are more in the classes itself being balaced and some skills/traits there.
Most 1:1 and 2:2 fights are actually quite nice.
And the matchmaking supports negative impressions for solo Q players …
No offence but what I read from OPs text is that s/he is pretty new to sPvP or haven’t play much PvP atleast.
The map mechanics in the game is fantastic and 5vs5 is the best number in GW2, they had 8vs8 before but it was too much even if I want it back it is not atleast a ranked mode.
How long someone survives comes with build and player skills, sounds like it works as intended as long as a tanky build can’t tank 3 players and not die. I am far from a pro but I have never seen that this season.
Also if you go 1vs1 on all 3 points you will have two more players who doesn’t know how to play.

3 years of pvp i mostly AFK the dailies at this point, i dont think i have EVER killed any1, i cant think of another pvp game in the history of mankind where its possible to never kill any1 at all even when you try, the skill floor in this game needs to be cut by about a thousand percent

the pvp in this game is TERRIBLE the time to kill is either impossibly high or instant depending on what class you fight and it feels just horrible
it was designed poorly from the ground up, why are all the maps dominaton? why does a domination mode with 3 points have a team size of only 5? that just encourages 1v1 fights and the gw2 pvp system is HORRIBLE at 1v1 fights….there is more circle strafing than in dark souls
gw2 pvp is only halfway decent in large battles and the maps/ team sizes dont lend themselves to that at all, they should all be replaced with deathmatch maps like that awesome courtyard map that is not in pvp ranked FOR SOME REASON (probably the “pros” complained
at the very least if i have 2 ppl on a point and the enemy has one we should be capping faster than they are, resulting in us getting the point
At the moment I agree, ranked is a joke for the vast majority of players, but, the classes being unbalanced as they are, and the match making system being garbage has more to do with it than anything else. and if you can’t kill anything, then your doing something wrong, or you are just running in to too many opponents and getting focused down.

Too skill based? Isn’t that the point? If everyone had the same skill level then what would the fun be? Even though build diversity is down the drain (which is one of the REAL reasons pvp is awful) if the game wasn’t skill based every game would be the EXACT SAME because your pug engi would be on the same skill level as someone like Five Gauge. The one of the only reasons I stay around is so I can improve my skill level, take that away and the player base goes with it.
