hardcounter classes
There is only two ‘hardcounters’ in this game.
Condi necro vs condi Engi and Thief vs Mes.
Everyone goes on about hardcounters, but really other matchups are just slight under handed and disadvantaged compared to the other two.
If condition spec isn’t hard-countered by shoutbow and celestial ele, they wouldn’t have be driven out of High Tier competitive scene completely, Basically there’re like 0 people playing pure condition spec in ToL 3. I remembered condition spec used to be claimed OP.
For the same reason pure bunker specs aren’t played anymore. Not because there hard countered, but because there obselete. Cele brings more to the table it isn’t worth bringing something with a tiny amount more condi pressure or sustain, when you can have it all one in with very little trade off and higher dps.

Na, the main reason is because celestial class can easily reach the damage of the rabid condition spec by stacking might, which cele Ele and Warrior can easily do.
Also, ironically, celestial specs grant better sustain than something like Rabid or Carrion. So overall celestial does:
1. Similar condition damage to condition spec
2. Higher Power to counter cleanse and objects (like treb and Foefire door)
3. BETTER sustain
Hmm, Anet sense of balance is laughable really.
Which is exactly what I was saying…. But that still has nothing to do with condi classes being hardcountered out of the meta. That simply isn’t true, I think your misusing the phrase ‘hardcounter’.

shoutbow has a single stun break, and they will use it for condi cleanse. any rabid Engi should be able to beat a shoutbow if they don’t suck at using slick shoes.
on the topic on counters, it’s build based. just some classes are weaker in particular areas, which makes it hard to build against those weaknesses. look at engineer, you have to run an elixir build to have a chance vs condi. all builds make sacrifices, I can only think of one build with no weaknesses- and happily dire thief is not in pvp.

I’m still waiting for proper boon hate especially in AoE format.

The question is how long would it take?
Any decent Shoutbow who knows to cleanse poison whenever it applied to you would be able to stall out condition spec for a very long time. There’s a chance that Shoutbow actually out-sustain you if you happened to fight on node. (OP LB F1 + cleansing ire)

that’s why you bait out the shouts and use slick shoes when they are on cd. you can get pry bar, geo swap, confusion from pistol and all of your nades into them while they fall over again and again. they are forced to eat everything you have and they die.
vun is a great cover condi, and with nades it’s reapplied instantly. your condi spam is endless, and ceaseless.

Poison hardcounters a warrior. Just be sure you can apply it often.
Personally I feel that every class should not have a hardcounter/hardcounters.
I feel that any two class when faced off 1vs1, equally skilled opponents should have an equal chance to win one another, depending on build and skills.
It shouldn’t be because certain mechanics and lack of mechanics on either class enables one to start a match with a strong advantage.
For example:
Thieves hardcounter mesmers
Rangers hardcounter necros
Warriors hardcounter Rangers
Guardians hardcounter thieves
Mesmers hardcounter engineers
Engineers hardcounter eles
Eles hardcounter guardiansI rather nobody hardcounters nobody and everyone has a fair chance to win based on skill/build, and not have an advantage based on certain class mechanics.
Talking about classes apart from builds is redundant. It means nothing. Thief is known to hardcounter IP power shatter mesmer in top tier meta running top tier meta builds. Move away from that and there’s plenty of Mesmer setups to counter the various thief builds.
