heart of the mist is empty
I never get tired of these squeaky threads. They are always well written and useful.
(then give those us us who payed 60$ cash shop gems for custom arena pls)
This is like going to a grocery store, buying an avocado so hard it could kill a horse, then telling the store to give you a ripe avocado. The claim has always been that pvp will be finished one day, just like your avocado will ripen, and anet really doesn`t have a reason to hurry that process up.
Anet is under no obligation to cater to the pvp community because it won`t satisfy any particular fiscal report. Even if the game was subscription based, the pvp population is so tiny that they wouldn`t even notice if we all quit. As it is now, we paid upfront and they just lose money on us by hiring pvp devs, programmers, and running servers.
Now some of you big boys might talk about how you spent money on the gem store (I think one guy around here said he spent 3x the game`s value in additional gems) but if pvpers were a demographic which spent disproportionately more than pvers and wvwrs then we wouldn`t be in our current neglected state, or at least it wouldn’t be quite so bad.
I`m all for asking more of the company, but these posts are always completely tactless and antagonizing. Not to mention the fact that half of the opinions are still in the fetal stage by the time they are prematurely birthed onto these forums.
I fight people, sometimes they kill me, sometimes I kill them. Fun is had by all. [/quote]

you really have an argument for paying $60 for an unfinished game? I could see if I was crying about lack of content updates on a finished game with no income for the company, but that’s not the case.
fact is, the game was advertised for pvp. I would gladly pay a measly 10 bucks a month for a proper game with timely updates and devs who actually care and are properly informed
the fact that you sit around the pvp forums and tell people, oh sorry you paid for this and no matter how much money you theoretically did throw away into the game it doesn’t matter you still don’t get anything.
how is it my fault they didn’t put anything in the gem store in the beginning? how is it my fault the economists overseeing pvp failed? how is it my fault that they published an unfinished game, then, instead of finishing it then monetize- they cut resources 90% and still didn’t monetize it
more importantly- you’re completely off subject. I’m not even saying anything about content, or ect ect ect. I’m simply stating – every single heart of the mist except anvil rock (still pretty empty) is dead – so why not merge them? Then, since our population is so low – why not just make hotm free to play, if they actually get decent cash shop items they’d probably actually make more money like that. AND It’s incentive for people to buy the real game for pve/wvw if they so chose

I always like buying cars without wheels
We are looking at how wheels will spin and which wheel size to install, but we can’t really talk about that yet. We’ve got a lot of things on our agenda and we’re not sure wheels are really that important quite yet. We think that installing on-star and giving you an opportunity to pay a monthly fee for road side service is better at this point. We are looking at feedback on the forums and we love the ideas in this thread!

Nobody is happy about the state of pvp except for empathic fighter and that other guy that’s constantly saying nice things about anet. We all wanted the game to be a success in pvp, but anet doesn’t and we’re all sour about that. You know what? It’s completely reasonable to be sour about this nonsense because a respectable number of the complaints we’re making are things that were learned by the gw1 devteam and it’s not intuitive to anyone why those lessons were just lost in the wind.
I think everyone’s in favor of making hotm free to play and consolidated into the district system from gw1. In fact, I think most zones should be done in a district system (it would certainly stop a lot of pve complaints about dragon events).
I do not think that posting this stuff over and over will make this stuff happen. It’s been posted 100 times before, it’ll be posted 100 times again, but it’s not like on the millionth post the devs will finally be like “OMG! WE SHOULD MAKE HOTM FREE!” It’s obviously not up to them and we shouldn’t hold our breath for it happening.
We’re on the same team here, I just don’t want to see these threads anymore because it clearly doesn’t make a difference and it’s just used as some kind of way for the community to vent frustrations onto itself. It’s stupid. Purringly stupid. Meowingly kitten.

tangent; a big kitten-you to whomever openly said on the forums they’d be willing to pay for custom arenas.
edit: but at least they’ve got their cash cow for pvp now.
i guess it makes sense, from a technical standpoint, since they can’t exactly let you host “the” game on your home pc.

what should the pvp forums consist of then? if there are problems, not post the problems?
yet, you don’t like posting of false – praising either?
then what? there is no point to this forum apparently.

I made a post earlier that was tl;dr and got buried under 10 threads of “omg laurels” / “omg warriors” but I don’t want anyone to post the topic again because clearly the community doesn’t feel that there isn’t anything more to be said on the matter. Overlap is unavoidable, but I think a lot of stuff gets posted just because anet didn’t respond to a previous thread saying “yes yes, you’re very smart and here’s a pat on the back with your interview at our head office please save our game”
Maybe just have anet to sticky a list of things that they’ve acknowledged so we don’t keep having the same topics over and over because someone wants validation from the devs or the community.

I could care less if something is reposted 5000 times if it’s necessary. There are tons of tldr posts on the forums nobody glances at, it’s better to just state a point per topic honestly. Mostly because people go off suggested 10 things that would only work if everything was together or something similar..
forums have been a cesspool since november/december and devs actually posted in several good suggestion threads and nothing happens.
I agree it’s a way to “vent” but day by day there are less people to even do that here
I could care less if something is reposted 5000 times if it’s necessary.
Using the word necessary implies that it will actually accomplish something.

like I said, day by day less people to vent. at this point the only people even left are the ones who desperately wanted the game to do well, and stuck it out. In the back of our minds it’s only human nature to enjoy watching something slowly burn and die – even if part of ourselves go along with it
plus – boredom – people have been waiting for a big mutiplayer pc title for years (outside of fps) – there are huge niches to profit from, the only problem is every company wants to go for the mass appeal “strategy”
I think one thing a company can learn from gw2 is let the community create content, let them decide what direction the game goes. Don’t say – no – because that will split up the playerbase – because guess what? people leaving does even more damage.
The whole “big brother” holding them back is also rediculous. Let’s see how far that gets you on your expansion sales and future reputation. How many people would actually pay for a sub at this point? probably less than 10%. you can say well subs = more money for production but the fact is they sold very well even with an unfinished game and have made almost no progress since then. At the very least they should have a polished core game.
People act like we are asking so much from them, but really it’s promises dating back to beta.
OP’s hyperbole is pretty funny. I’m on Tarnished Coast, and whenever I go into the Mists, there are no shortage of people testing builds or queuing up.
But I shouldn’t be terribly surprised I guess. Mass hysteria on the forums seems pretty standard after each patch now. The rest of us just keep playing the game rather then Forum Wars 2.
come play smite has everything u need for an e-sport multiple maps and game types. free to play
