help me change my pov about this game...
Against thief, just try running with the blind well. I can’t do anything against a good necro, let alone if they use that skill.
How do you pronounce your name?
A condition spec necro is potentially the most difficult class a thief can fight. If you have life force you can DS most of their burst and when they stealth your staff can dot them up heavily if youre good with ground targetting. If they go into Shadow refuge, just vomit all your ground targetting into their refuge and if they are dumb enough to stand in it while their stealth activates they will die. Thieves are tough to fight in battle because they can pick their fights, have highest burst in game and the most (by far) means to reset the fight and start again on their own terms. Having said that, a competent necro is a good counter to a thief.

There’s a lot of dissatisfaction among necro players regarding the class. Some claim that it’s underpowered, but that is not an argument I’m willing to go into.
What IS pretty clear though, is that necromancer is a class that’s riddled with several times more bugs and broken traits than any other class and suffer from a weak and unsatisfying playing experience to compensate for the power of death shroud.
I do not personally believe necromancers to be underpowered, but there are VERY few viable builds and the few that do work does not feel very good to play. This is about feel, not power. To many of us, the necromancer is simply not fun to play despite how much we love the concept, theme and stated design of the class. We are punished with horrible weapon sets and lackluster support skill lineup because deathshroud was changed from an alternate downed mechanic to a toggleable state. And it’s VERY powerful, for sure. It just means that the rest of the class has to be extremely unfulfilling to play, or we’d be WAY above the power curve.
So my best suggestion for finding a more positive perspective on sPvP is to play another class. When a high amount of die-hard necro fans are forced to admit that they simply feel better playing pretty much ANY other class in sPvP, despite being inexperienced with those classes, there’s a fair chance that you might have a similar experience.
A final reiteration: I don’t give a toss about power debates here. I don’t need a class to be powerful to have fun playing it. The core of this is that the necromancer FEELS really bad to play AND has a minimal amount of choice in builds and playstyle due to excessive bugs and design flaws. I suspect that you will have a more pleasant experience with any other class. I know I had.
Open, if you’re new to PvP don’t sweat it. Necro was my first character, and the first I PvP’d on. I remember getting owned left and right with every new char I made, especially my necro.
First of all, we need to know what kind of build you are running.
Second, don’t worry about being outnumbered. It usually means you will lose if you are fighting at least equally skilled opponents, in a 1v2 or 1v3. The only times I win these are if the other players are absolute garbage.
Also, necros are not really the best 1v2’ers out there, mostly due to a lack of stability, stealth, or invulnerability making it much more difficult to finish a downed player when you’ve got someone else beating on you. They ARE very good, but I think they really shine in group fights (those 3v4’s you were talking about..) when you can get off a good epidemic.
GW2 is a pretty skill based game and it seems you suck (sorry if i’m so direct).
OK I’ll try:
You are likely going to find that many builds have weakness against certain other builds. So what you are experiencing is that you feel fine against many classes and then you encounter a counter build that smashes you and think “OP”.
Skill plays a greater part in this game (in spvp) than in most other mmos because everyone is on a level playing field. The classes are largely balanced with a few outliers that will always be there and will always be changing over time. However, compared to any other mmo I have played, the spvp stands out in GW2 because of its balance.
Just think back to other mmos where you have to grind pve to be competative in pvp, being farmed by those that grinded first/fastest, premades farming pugs, having to play one class for umpteen levels to be able to play top-tier pvp (where it is presumable balanced). All of this is gone in gw2. For anyone that loves skill based mmo pvp this is as good as it gets, and the game is still very young and getting better.
No more long queues-we have spvp on demand 24/7. No penalties for leaving if you have to leave. No botters.
OK next point:
You talk about 4vs3 and 3vs4. While I agree there is too much zerging, 4vs3 is very winnable/losable. Skilled players, focus fire, and a good build/class mix can easily turn the tables. Its more 1vs3+ that seems common if you try and be creative and leave the herd. Still, even here good awarness and positioning can mitigate the issue. Sometimes you will find that you just aren’t in sync with your group and will be constantly zerged. Other times you’ll be on fire and always in the right place.
One more point:
Necro- I have only played Necro a few times in spvp, but I found it pretty easy. I could just press random buttons and get decent performance. I’ve seen good necros be very strong 1vs1 and as a “bunker”/ support type of build.
Finally, I don’t play shooters/RTS but compared to other mmos (like WoW, WAR, TERA etc) the spvp is balanced and quite enjoyable. If you think this is unbalanced then you must not have played BGs in any of the above three games or many other mmos I’ve played.

No its not, for the majority of classes and builds its faceroll easy. However the OP chose Necro that is about the only class that takes a fair amount of skill. Thief, mes, warrior, ranger, guardian are all faceroll classes never seen anything easier to play in all my MMO gaming over a decade of gaming, worst these classes can still be topdog even with faceroll easy gameplay.
PvP side of things is terrible right now you have crazy burst faceroll easy classes fooling people into thinking they are skilled.
