hotjoin and the newcomer
Firstly, you need to use more return lines characters :p.
Have you and your friends tried the 5v5 matches? If you go to the browser search and filter for 5v5, they are usually much better.
I think that hotjoins could use some change to the rewards system. Currently the only game type available is Conquest yet you earn much more glory playing Team Death match with those trying to play Conquest.
Some ideas:
Reduce the amount of glory and rank gained from killing by 50-80% (2-5 per kill).
-Or- Increase the glory per kill by 50% but split the glory of a kill between the killers. If 8 people are responsible for your death, they all get less glory for the kill but if 1 person defeats 1 person then they get more then they currently would.
Increase the amount of glory for playing the Conquest game type. How? For each point your team controls, earn x glory per x seconds. The more points you control the more glory / rank income you earn.
Add incentives such as: Earn double glory / rank when capturing an enemy point while you have an ally on another point in your control.
Boost the win bonus for players that worked towards the objective and not just mindlessly zerged.
Basically they need to push more for the game type the want us to play, and reduce the Zerging TDM that people are using to farm rank.

This is the tricky situation, a newbie wants to play with his friend in hotjoin, but since a newbie can play with his friend that also means an expert can play with his friends.
So you have the newbie and his friends playing against the expert and his friends and obviously the newbie and friends wont be enjoying hotjoin one bit.
So you really cant just take away the team selection because the experts cant farm you newbies and the newbies cant play with his friends.
The biggest problem I see here is the tournament system, it doesn’t really feel like a tournament, theres no competition, you don’t really get famous for winning game after game, once your in the top 25 all it really does is hurt your rating if you lose, its just not that inviting to the experts hence why you see all these people that claim they’re the best with under 500 games won while you got hundreds of other people with over 500 games won, most of them not in the top 100.
The next problem is just hotjoin offers too much rank point experience, its limit needs to go down. losing hotjoin matches doesn’t affect you any bit, theres 0 risks in doing hotjoins but the reward is simply too much to resist.

I wasn’t aware of the numbering related to them, but filtering them is extremely helpful.

Yea. It would be better to display:
Player: 6/10
Spectators: 9/10
But the display counts spectators and players
