hello what tactics and build should i use to have a chance vs an engi?
the seem to knock me down root me all the the time and two shotting me effortlessly ?
is there is something i must do against the that i dont know?

seems like even their summons take more beating than me

If he two shotted you, it’s probably a static discharge spec. When they knockback you, they’ll unload their burst, a lot of instant toobelt skills proccing the static discharge trait for a good burst with vuln applied, etc. Stunbreak the rifle 4, try to have a sword 2 up if S/D or S/P, and don’t go melee if they are on rifle; rifle 3 and 5 are melee hard hitting abilities. If you dodged the burst they are basically free kills. Condi is another matter.

This immediately sets off alarm bells “He has never even played the engineer class”. The best way to learn how to defeat the enemy is to know the enemy.

Play an engineer, whatever build you have the most difficulty defeating. Learn it’s strengths and weakness.

In all seriousness, it’s a very difficult matchup.

If the engie is using protection injection, you can try to pull it out with a bassied black powder + port into autos until you want to heartseeker into backstab. Another option is to try and condi overload him with goop, but that is hard to pull off. Gear shield will be the worst thing ever for you. If you use ogre runes, you can try to get the incendiary powder to proc on the dog – again very hard to do as it dies to cleave so fast. The best option by far is to shortbow them though for as much as possible and avoid straight up 1v1’ing them, imo.
