the soloq leaderboards are a joke, right?

I go from 88% to rank 29 NA back to rank 800. I’ve played hundreds of games on the same freakin’ build and playstyle why can’t you figure out where I belong in the leaderboard?

Besides all the 4v5’s i’ve had, i’ve even had 3v4’s and a 4v2. I’ve had 2 rank 1’s on my team against all 30+ None of this makes any sense. How clearly do we have to explain that this system isn’t remotely close to working as intended?

I don’t really care about my rank, but it would be nice if I could.

Soloqs are all about luck. Thats pretty much it.

The biggest problem is the way that MMR works. New players can win a few lucky ones in a row and get their MMR and ranks up higher than they should be. Direct result of that are really weird and uneven matchups. So the direct opposite of what an MMR system should be doing.

A good example is a (friendly) guy i met in soloq the other day called Jace Norsd. He currently has a 21-32 record overall, while being a former top 22 (currently 900). And he was about as good as any random new player you meet if you ever do hotjoin games.

This is probably one of the reason the devs wanted to take away ranks because people qq over facing a rank 30 when they are much lower and such. It would be a lot better if we had our MMR rank displayed instead of our animal rank.

I’m not looking at the rank much, but I’ll admit this is something that gets to me too: I win a dozen games in a row and then I lose almost as many. I don’t change my play style inbetween. It’s seems to be all about who I get teamed up with and/or what professions are on each team.

Both solo and team queue match making is still messed up. It’s a population thing (and sorry Anet – hotjoin/wvw/etc population doesn’t effect soloq/teamq pop, and the pve achieve hunters that run/afk their 3 games and leave only adversely affect us all.). It’s also a problem with the MMR algorithm on some level I would imagine, as well as – get this – the state of pvp in the game!

You can run a full team of decent players, but if they’re all glass roamers, they won’t win. You can run a full team of relatively crappy players that all run AI/passive meta builds, and they stand a better chance of winning.

Soloq is a mess, do more teamqs (don’t worry about teams, they are almost non-existent, and running into them occasionally is still better than randomly getting skyfail and happens less often). That said, teamq is also mess – but marginally less so.

OR… pick a play-to-win meta build that can potentially carry (bunkers are a decent choice, since less people seem to run bunkers), and hope for the best.

Enjoy the mini-game that is spvp!

Since some people still refuse to run these builds its still luck – in this case it is if you get a bigger amount of people running said builds, or will the enemy team have the luck in numbers.

Because of the nature of solo Q, there is a high degree of variation in success as a result of 4 v 5s and such. Because of this, it can be hard to tell where you stand after only a handful of games. However, once you play a lot of games, this starts to even out.

Unfortunately, there seems to be a rather low threshold of games played for people to move up on the leaderboards. They really should have something in place so that you have to play at least 100 games or something like that to get in the top 1000.

The leaderboard isn’t completely arbitrary, but since there are so many people with less than 50 games under their belts who have ended up in top spots that it’s become very watered down.
