Ad Infinitum & The Ascension
As an ele, been having a difficult time pondering how to beat them. What happens at first, the range burst from a distance whils pets distrct you down. I attempt auras, blocks, rolls, side stepping and pressure. I would condi clear the vulnerability and immobilized but still get hit like a truck.
When i try to move in, most have invuln to CC’s and stun, they kite me or stealth to reposition a distance while im entangled. Most have rock dog to deal with on top of pet. Played 3 matches with 3 rangers… getting rekt. Im asking around how to beat this power class as its rising popularity is getting annoying.
If i cant beat them, join them?
As i have never lost to a power ranger in a 1v1 before i will share my tactics with you:
Use rtl to get close or the earth 3 leap. Use stability if you think you cant dodge the knockback. Dodge 1x when they use rapid fire, not 2×. If they use barrage stay out of the circle and use breath skills. Burning works very good against them. Use ring of earth to block projectiles, very effective at close range. Chill kills their mobility so use your frost aura to chill them and to reduce 43% of the damage you take. You can also walk behind them to put their lb skills on cooldown when you walk out of their hit cone.
When they switch to gs dodge maul and avoid their block. Shocking aura is very goof against gs. Use stability against the stun if you can. When they use their invul burn them with drakes breath or cleansing fire when you dont need it.
Hope this helps you.
Ah nice insights and tactics. I heard someone say stand behind them but not sure what that meant at first. Now i see how to get close from getting kite’d. Often times cycling through attunements as im learning ele, feels like im break dancing on the keyboard to chain the skills. Tis a nice class though with variety.
Is any elite skill used much for ele? Friend said never use FGS . So I pressume the elemantal.
I’m guessing what your friend meant by stand behind them is for you to run through them which basically breaks their projectiles. The long bow becomes pretty useless once you are in melee range and most of these new rangers have no idea how to use their melee weapons effectively.
cant really say what elite would be best for you. all ele elites are very sitruational. i use tornado for skyham, fgs for other maps, never elemental. matter of taste^^

Just listen to this guy, he’s never lost against a power ranger before so he knows what he’s doing.
I mean, if you can get to rank 1 solo que and not lose to any power ranger 1v1 than your pretty good.
ive been applying these tips, i now have a 50% chance to beat them now xD. practice, practice, practice i shall beat them all one day!!!
Now i just have to figure out me vs mesmers....
Most of the tips here only work on your bad to average player. An experienced ranger will dodge your leaps, save the knockbacks for later and fight you in melee range with a LB, as easily as they would at max range.
There is a world of difference between builds too.
Most roll the yolo 66020. Which means max DPS at cost of having only a signet and one or two stunbreaks to save their rear end.
Some roll the “safe” 60260. Which means they got condi cleanse, is harder to kill, and have a heavy emphasis on hard CC.
Then there is the select few (myself included) that realized that just dumping 6 into Wilderness Survival is enough to make you facetank as well as a Cele Engi, yet hit just as hard as a zerker DD thief.
To add to what others said, abuse LOS (line of sight). If a ranger wants to pew pew pew you, just hide behind an obstacle while you still control the point he is assaulting. In a +1 situation, you might be better to just stall for help or die on-point (depending on your build). In a 1v1 position, if you just hide behind a tree, his longbow does 0 dps and he is forced to either close the gap or hop on point. If you can force them onto point (and into melee), you are now fighting vs. a kitten player that has no second weapon-set, really.
If you can’t LOS, just gap close, cc, and smack em as hard as possible. Save a condi-cleanse for entangle if possible.
I’m a Mesmer so I don’t actually know this, but do Eles have reflects? 80% of Rangers in SoloQ panic when they are being reflected or don’t even realize they are being reflected until they RP themselves dead.
Usually, when a Ranger sees that they are being reflected, they go into melee mode and are then much easier to deal with. Keep stability on hand to break their fear, knockdowns, and imobs. Once they’ve used maul, get upclose and personal for your burst and they should go down.
Are you running DD?
then just stand on point and self heal and get protection on aura. you will have NP.
then chase him when you have the point capped or hide behind environment, he has to go on point in order to cap or decap, so come out and attack him when he does that.
else you can have focus. which is really good against projectil attacks.

As a Power Ranger myself I disapprove this message. Pls don’t do those kind of things I hate it. With focus you have two anti-projectile skills, time them with our rapid fire. If you don’t have them, use 1 dodge only. Our rapid fire will get back faster than you dodge if you used 2 each time and 1 dodge will negate most of our dmg. Stay close to us while we are in longbow, chill us and get away from us when we are with GS. That kitten us off.
Keep out of rapid fire and maul are you’ll be fine. That’s all we have, if we can’t burst you down, you can kill us easy. Burning is the worst, at best we only have 1 condition remover. Burn us and protect yourself against our burst and it will be a walk in the park, we’ll probably just get the hell out of there and wait for a better opportunity.
Rangers in SoloQ don’t even realize they are being reflected
Rangers in SoloQ don’t even realize they are being reflected
OP…
Easy answer is to bring focus.
Earth 4 == reflect
Earth 5 == invuln
Air 4 == Area of effect block
Air 5 == knockdown
Water 5 == area of effect daze
You can set it up so that they are unable to hurt you most of the time. It is ezmode. Swirling winds even protects the whole point.
