good morning everyone!
i have the excellent proposal to fix the current state of hotjoin and to make it enjoyable for hotjoin players!

remove hotjoin from the pvp game browser!
(game browser will only be used to find and join custom arenas hosted by players!)

the “play now” button will function the same like the “activities” button i.e. crab toss, sanctum sprint, keg brawl, aspect arena, etc so players will be thrown into the next available match.

new servers are created immediately if 10 players is in a server.

servers not full will have players chucked in immediately if they clicked the “play now” button to ensure the rooms are always 5 vs 5.

no spectator mode in these official anet hosted hotjoin servers.

no swapping teams in these official anet hosted hotjoin servers.

you may leave anytime if you are not happy though. but you will not get rewards.

you can still join your friends in PvP in these official anet hosted hotjoin servers.
(you cannot swap teams though, enjoy killing your friends! there is a good odd of 50% to be same team or different team though)

no match making, players are immediately shuffled into existing rooms.

wait, the rewards still need to be fixed.
because due to the very static nature of the rewards, many people will still afk.

i will talk about the revised rewards in another topic, another day.

i think its a good idea, but idk about people still being able to leave whenever they want, rather than at the end of the game.

unless the play now button worked so well that the player that left would be replaced in less than 30 seconds, which most likely is possible if the game is placing you in a match rather than choosing one off the browser.

well, hotjoin is about freedom and flexibility, just like the other activities in the game (southsun survival, crab toss, keg brawl, aspect arena, sanctum sprint, reaper rumble, snowball mayhem, etc)

and if there are enough players clicking the “play now” button every now and then, yes, i believe the non full rooms will be so quickly filled up such that friends may not even have time to join their friends in PvP.

friends can still join their friends in PvP in various player hosted custom arenas though.

anet wanted the players to learn official tournament conquest mode 5 vs 5 however the current situation of official hotjoin does not do that at all.
