after playing pvp for 5 minutes i have found a way to get more people to enjoy this game mode. it is simple really… give every class a passive trait that instantly kills thiefs and mesmers in 10k radius. and i mean kill, not down.

Well, for me it’s different. Each time I see thieves/mesmers/eles on the other team I consider the match to be an easy victory for me.

Considering the state of the mesmer skills usually means the mesmer has no idea what is going to happen when he uses his ability, that instakill aura of yours is highly uncalled for.

And if you want to survive the thieves, do not poke them, do not make eyecontact, let them stealth up, attack you and then all you gotta do is shadowrefuge, heal up then 100b them to death with your longbow elementalist.

Take your time to learn proper keybinding, it’s worth the struggle

I don’t know… that sounds a bit overpowered to me.

ok lets exclude non traited elementalists then, should be more balanced i think.

Why didn’t I think of that…

It is a common oversight, mind you there ARE other builds that also works against it but I’ve always found that one to be the most effective not to mention it is fairly easy to pull off.

What I’m really hearing is there needs to be a L2P game mode and Hotjoin may have been intended for that purpose but is not really serving it currently.

Clearly the OP is speaking about hot join. Of all the current balance issues within PvP, mesmers and thieves are not at the top of the list. S/P thief and PU mesmer do need some adjustments though.

Yes it would, we could have spirit rangers duking it out over 30minute battles with bunker guardians, engis and warriors all while the elementalists stand nearby and look upon them in awe as they slowly melt away in the sun.

No really, play a mesmer or thief yourself for abit, playing from your opponents perspective is an amazing method for finding out the weaknesses they have and what the flaws with their profession is.

Ive played all toons. Your right, there are extremes of burst and bunker, still, in this game. To be fair, some people do enjoy playing those styles. They only become a problem, really if they define the meta without a strong middle ground, (ie: the elusive balanced spec) and in the case of guardians and thieves, they both have from the start. Theres a long thread on thieves driving other damage dealers away (or forcing other proff’s to build for cond bunkers if possible), its accurate imo (same could be said for guardian bunkers, but a bunker i can walk away from lol).

I’ve read that thread and I honestly believe that it is exaggerating things quite abit but there is definitly something wrong in the fields of balance right now.

However I dont disagree with you in regards of the sheer damage output thieves can perform right now, partly I’d say this is because of how their skills work.. Whereas everyone else sits with cooldown, thieves get the possibility to dish out obscene amounts of damage in a very limited timeframe.. Something probably has to be done, but I feel that it is the combination of both massive burst aswell as fantabulous mobility and escapes that makes for the sillyness we’re currently seeing.

Personally I can take down both bunker guardians(Given enough time.. an odd 5-15minutes or so) and thieves(most of the time), but in return in tpvp my build falls absolutely to pieces when its up against engineers, to some extent even rangers.. it is a deliberate choice I’ve made tho and if I can beat a thief and have him rage at me in pm afterwards that is good enough for me.

mesmer problem = clone spaming

not fun. i believe you guys can deal with those things, but for me to go in a game and start a fight with those two professions is just… not fun:D

Yea, these are 2 proffs that have been complained about, with good reason from both beginners and veterans, from launch. Believe it or not, they both used to be much stronger…shudder….

if you start to award high tier crafting material and lengendaries precursors , we will see people flock to pvp with no hesitations. Anet got a lot of ways to improve pvp, but always the question is how far they are willing to go for pvp population.

I think PvP should have better rewards overall. It is more difficult to be good at pvp then pve, and this shouldn’t go unnoticed.

The best way to start getting people into PvP is the community…

As it stands the PvP community is worse than ranked League Of Legends….

Every single match has these quotes:

“Go back to PvE please”
“Uninstall your game”
“l2p kitten”
“You use a cheese build cuz u bad”
“Don’t play team que if you are under rank 30 noob”
“decap engies are for hotjoins”

In short: The community is upset with the way the devs treat them, so the community takes out that frustration onto the newer players then complain strait away there are no new players in PvP….

I can personally say I enjoy the concept of sPvP, but after I get my finisher I want I won’t ever play it again due to the “l33t” community.

I mostly play for the new Free-For-All arena in PvP lobby.
….. And Elementalist.

…and I think your solution is exactly the problem many newbies are experiencing when it comes to mesmers. Against mesmers, targetting needs to be precise and quick, which is a hard skill to master on its own.

If ANet would have kept updating PvP and would have done a better job with balancing, there wouldnt even be a need for getting more ppl into pvp, as in the beginning, there already were a lot of ppl.

Compare it to other MMO’s.
Whilst not “totally” balanced and within the boundaries of a MMO, Anet has done an exceptional good job at balancing classes for pvp.
