how to know you got yourself good team
Ignore the ele, they are the strongest attrition bunker in the game atm. I hate when 2 of my guys go after the ele and spend all game chasing the kitten.

There is nothing wrong with targeting a warrior. Let’s be clear, if you let a warrior without pressure, you will pay it dearly!
You need to at least force them using their CD (endure pain etc…) and once those are out, a warrior can die fairly easily under focus.
You easily and fast look up a 4-digit number representing the MMR value…..oh wait, that thing is guarded as a national security threat.

+1. Ignoring a warrior is risky. Take them down fast or make them blow their defensive CDs
Letting a warrior go all Pew Pew on you with no return pressure is asking for a world of pain.
Oh and how to know when you have a bad team. Say in team chat…I’ll grab home. Then 2 other players follow me to triple cap home. (i leave before the cap so its really a double cap but of course it means it was probably a 4v2 at mid)
“Buff my main class, nerf everything else. "
How to know if you have a halfway decent team?
Nobody says “Hi everyone!” at the start.
Nobody types “GLHF” into the mapchat before the match starts.
Nobody says “Just focus on 2 points, don’t push far!”
Nobody is jumping around the spawn area.
Nobody is running DH.
If anyone does any of the above during the start of the match, I have a 90% chance of losing.

take them fast… i see warrior doing 1v3 till they die…. so mean while you losing
necro is the fastest to push around
ele is support – so if pushed he will burn his support cd so now you can choose whom to attack.
warrior are sustain so unless i got good group composition who know how to burst or rip boons the ele will sustain him. kill/push the healer and the whole party will fall.
but lets not discuss it

Btw, i have never seen top (esl) players on my team discussing strategy at start.

polite people wins more matches than ignorant ones.
This game should be fun, luck has nothing to do with winning, but still everyone should be enjoying this game or then go to play something else they enjoy.
If you have new player who haven’t played much PvP on your team, you should teach him when and why not pushing far etc.
Even lord Helseth jumps around spawn and many other Pro league players too.
Have seen so many legendary players playing DH in lower divisions and winning so nothing to say here… (these tips aren’t made for Pro league players, they already know their tips.. )
So carry on and have fun playing!

Good list, messiah. It seems spot on. So many games I’ve had where I post in teamchat where I’ll be going and what I’m playing, and I’m met with crickets, and you just know it isn’t going to go well.
Ignore the ele, they are the strongest attrition bunker in the game atm. I hate when 2 of my guys go after the ele and spend all game chasing the kitten.
They’re extremely fragile if you sic the right person on them, like a power rev. You’re right, though, you should usually mulch something else first.

Well I guess that one isn’t always a solid indicator. And the DH one doesn’t apply if it’s one of the 3 players in NA who can actually manage it despite it’s limitations.
Everything else is a solid indicator of inexperience and/or a guy playing “just for fun”. It usually means that I have to get my pain meds ready cause I’m about to break my back carrying.

How to know if I have a good team: I recognize the names on my team.
True answer can’t be more true than this
hope you guys put some tips (real ones)
i start with the beginning
1. when you type in chat ppl answer (you know they can read and answer)
2. if play non meta build some type it
3. ppl call their location at the start and react for the group wishes
4. ppl call the split like 1 close 4 mid atc…
5. if you ask ppl if they know how to target. you see red icon over your headduring fight:
1. ppl call target usually the soft ones like necro or ele. and not warrior
2. after call target ppl really attack it and cc combos to death
3. support class know they have to support and not going treb lol
4. ppl dont push for 3 cap if its contested
5. ppl dont die fast (i mean 2-5 sec at the beginning)
6. ppl listen to new plit/ping
7. ppl dont got 3v1
8. ppl dont regroup if team wipedi am sure you got many more but for me if ppl dont target but me, and no focus fire, and support ele go to treb or i see 3v1 i know we are in deep sheet and sometime yes just having fun till i secure my loses if i see lost cause like 100-350
Recognizing you are on a bad team doesn’t change the fact that you are on a bad team, and screwed lol.

There should be away to “bet” on a game. When you start, you bet on whether you win or not. If you bet on a win you get the pip as usual, but if you bet on a loss, you gain or lose nothing.
Of course there would be many ways to abuse this system, but sometimes you know from the start that you have no chance.

Or instead of using a complicated algorithm to pre-determine who will most likely win by putting the better people on the same team, just make it completely random with people on the same bracket of progression. Yeah sometimes you may get a team of not so great players who grinded and other times great players who are just now pvp’ing at lower brackets, but you would also have several matches were both teams should have a mix of both great and bad players so either one has a decent shot.
That and stop mixing solo que and team que. GW1 had random arena and team arena and completely solved the problem. That and fix the lag and dc’s server side bc even people with good pc’s and internet are being effected.

Many games are lost, because people THINK, they don’t have a chance …
Srsly, your “betting” idea is terrible and would just encourage people to intentionally throw games. It doesn’t matter, if you think, your chances to win are good or bad, you should always try to make the best out of it.

Agreed. I’ve seen plenty of games where we won but had a horrible start. People just had to get their acts together or play better as a team.
However often the start of a game also clearly shows who’s going to win. Both teams have 1 person cap home, rest go to mid, one team gets slaughtered. True some team comps are op together and if u split sides and rotate well it gets easier, but that takes a lot of skill for pugs and coordination which is unlikely most of the time. This is why so many give up b/c so often that first fight is a clear indicator of who wil win, especially with this mmr pre-determine who should win program that puts the good people on the same team.

why really not use the same bracket ? why invlove mmr with it?
How to know when I have a good team…..Well the main thing is no 1 on my team trolls and acts like a kitten bag and gets everyone frustrated to the point where there’s no chance that we will win, negativity & toxicity usually causes more losses than anything else. And the second thing that lets me know I have a good team is that I don’t run to mid alone and actually have plenty of back up with me that’s an amazing feeling knowing some 1 has my back, cuz no matter how hard you try you will never be able to solo their team, so yea team work which is sometimes hard to get in a pug team but everyone knows pvp is all about luck in this game anyways. (And pray that you are lucky enough to not be facing an organized premade or a full team of high mmr people while you are on a random pug team full of people with low mmr)

also i try to give compliments for good play to others even if you lose
like i did 1v2 on far (to kite them and buy some time). i was 2 sec delay to disengage and got very low to 500 hp. used 2 dodges and boom the ele rush from mid and half way heal me up .
i GG the ele.
so also try to compliment others.
also if i see so many mistakes i too sometime rage at other- so sry …
When there’s only 4 people on the other team because of a dc :)

So long as there’s sufficient team members in the fight, I can lock down/burst the bunker ele with a power war or lockdown mes.
If the ele is holding up the mid fight with his support, even more reason to rip him out from under them.

Oh that explains a lot. EU seems to be different. Here almost everybody greets their teammates, if they are somehow competent. Communications check. Wishing luck is just common courtesy, not many do it but some do. At least when somebody does it, you know they are not toxic or sore losers.
And 1 DH is fine. At least they have a good burst, and CC lockdown. They can usually hide themselves in a teamfight, and not get focused. But when there are 3 and nobody rerolls… That’s when you lose.

Yea 1 thing the internet has taught me is a lot of people seem to have been raised by wild rabid animals and have no respect or decency for other human beings, but what can you do, I guess that’s why some people turn off team chat before they play pvp, I can’t blame em.

I know I have a good team when one of us die because of a tiny mistake and nobody bugs him like hell. Even when we are losing all of the team tries their best and does their job (unlike those who argue and waste time). Then even if we start bad, we can recover. Or at least I can say that “we lost but this was a good match”. I play this game for fun, not to satisfy anyones sunken ego. But I am not a pro and never will be one. So if I can find these in low tiers or unranked, thats where I will be.

So being polite and showing good sportsmanship now qualifies as being inexperienced? And if my team didn’t greet me then I’d have no faith in them being able to perform the most simplest task, as to hold a two cap instead of becoming greedy.

This^ Do the Batman style, be what your team needs you to be. This doesn’t mean that you need to take on that roll as the carry, sometimes maybe it’s best for you to take a step back and let somebody else do their thing.

Disagree with the push far point. Idk if you’re promoting far pushing but in general its absolutely terrible. When I see we wipe enemy team at mid and 3 of my team mates go far I instantly put myself in the mindset of seeing an eventual comeback from the enemy and prepare to be snowballed after the recently respawned enemies are done killing the 3 morons at far.
As you move up in tiers you’ll find people are a lot more inclined to listen when you call plays. You just have to communicate in good way.
Counter to that, if you’re spamming chat, calling people noobs, complaining etc people won’t listen to you. You’ll probably be the one posting on forums about how your teams suck and how everyone else is stupid.
Point is, in a team focused game you aren’t a good pvper if you don’t know how to communicate.
(edited by Crowley.8761)
How to know you have a good team:
1. You have a good balance between damage, CC, support and bunker.
2. 1 person goes close who has good 1v1/bunking potential but ALSO mobility, and calls out when something they can’t handle comes to point.
3. Warrior/necro doesn’t go close – too immobile to help elsewhere and get back on point.
4. you win the mid-fight (lol).
5. someone stays on mid and calls incoming (same as close).
6. your team actually respond to those calls. Having more mobile units roaming/rotating and leaving the most immobile on the mid point (ideal place for warrior).
As you may have guessed I’m playing warrior. Nothing wrong with a warrior first target especially if they rush in. Nothing wrong with ele as first target, especially if you have a nec to strip, war to burst. Everything wrong with a nec first target who’s playing off point at the start.

Some of you guys are being too categorical.
Focusing warrior isn’t always bad choice, same as pushing far isn’t always wrong decision and having dragonhunter doesn’t always ruin the team composition.
Leave this formulaic thinking, most of the things correlate with current state of match\separate skirmish.
It’s Irish for, “you’re kittened”.
How to know if you have a halfway decent team?
Nobody is jumping around the spawn area.
Actually, I like seeing that. For me, seeing that means I’m gonna win 75% sure.
How an EU player knows: “I’m playing with EU players, and not NA ones.”
Oh that explains a lot. EU seems to be different. Here almost everybody greets their teammates, if they are somehow competent. Communications check. Wishing luck is just common courtesy, not many do it but some do. At least when somebody does it, you know they are not toxic or sore losers.
Huh maybe it is an EU thing. Each time I play on EU I always end up getting random guild invites and party invites after games. Is that a thing?
Like, at least talk to be first or ask before just inviting me.
really, IGNORE the warrior? They’re one of my first to focus down, let them unload on you and its over.
(edited by shion.2084)
Adding one on there: If you run thief and your team knows how to stack on a blind field for stealth. Bonus if they actually blast it themselves.
Sadly, its very rare that you find people who know to utilize group stealth like this, but a good group will stack on your blind field, call a target, then burst hard without revealing themselves early.
I would say a good team knows when to un-target a target that didn’t play out and should now not be chased anymore.
I would say a good team knows when to un-target a target that didn’t play out and should now not be chased anymore.
Or a step further, you can also tell a good team by whether they keep attacking a rev who has their glint heal active or not. =P
Effective Peeling of focused allies.
Knowing when to give up a Cap in order to win the skirmish.
When your ele does not lose a 1v1 against an ele and then flames everyone why they left him alone in a fight (I almost punched my monitor).
When you ele while fighting another bunker does not use scepter 5 so the other guy decaps the point……..
