i saw this guy in hotjoins today:
all celestial stats (amulet, runes).
rifle
flamethrower/bombs/toolkit
i think it was 4/4/?/4/?

he did very well. is this a viable now?

Celestial Engineer works well due to the variety of the kits. It’s good to roam or 1v1. Not so much in tournament unless they are good at stacking might.

Well anything is viable in hotjoin. Hybrid build works well strength runes+Sig of battle firefield+blastfinisher(bomb kit) and you good to go. Though the type of engine you describe would get focus way to easily in high lvl tq or sq.
