if you want glory, do not defend points. wierd game
In pug games where people only try to farm glory then yes, it is pointless, go and herpaderpa with the rest of the artard sheeple.
Who cares about pug games…
Well Arcane, we dont care about you, so it evens out.
There is no reason not to put a little glory boost on defending. Unless the intent is to get people to zerg instead of learning their classes in small skirmishes.
This is actually a rather annoying issue. If you want to win a match someone should defend points, but there is no glory for it unless enemy actually shows up and not in overwhelming numbers, so no one does. And the difference in match points you get form defending and roaming is pretty big. On roaming builds I tend to get about twice as much glory as on defensive ones.
Getting a few points once in a while for just keeping close to one of the objectives your team holds would be nice.
Another thing i’ve noticed is that to get glory you need to stick on the point being capped untill it’s completly yours even if it would be better to rush for unther undefended one. Often I stay on one point with 3 or 4 other people after a large fight to finish a cap with no sign of enemy in sight while i realy should be roaming to another contested point where I could actually be usefull. As said above it is generally an issue with pug games, with organised team you generally don’t care about glory and play to win, but it’s still annoing

Its funny that you say “Who cares about pug games…” well, people want this game to be esport and if casuals who have no teams yet to compete in TPvP try out pug game that is in horrible state then guess what? They leave and you wont get your esport.
Anyway, I agree that its stupid that it does not award you for defending but then again if it did, wouldnt everyone defend and none actually try cap as it has higher risk than just sitting on point with 8 of your buddies and collect points?
Heh. Yeah.
I always LOL to myself at the poor soul who’s in Raid on the Capricorn at the ruins… Because no one ever goes there to try and take a point defended by a player and sharks. End of game comes, his score is 10 from capping 1 point. He might get a match win bonus of like 3? Big deal.
I think he meant PUB games, not PUG games.
I thought that by defending a point you get Skirmisher and an extra 5 for killing them on it, so that killing an enemy on a defended point will net you 20-25 glory per. However, attacking players on their point will net you that same 25 (skirmisher still counts, I believe) + 10 Neutralizing + 10 on capture (if my numbers are off, let me know) for a total of 45.
Heres something I did notice in sPvP, though. Since there are 8 people, often you will get a group of 4-6 running together. Once one group kills the other, the winning group moves on to the points and takes out everyone there. Since there’s 6 of them and just 2-3 defenders, the defenders go down quickly. This results in constantly being dead, and therefore no points.
My suggestion: Open up 10 man sPvP servers. 16 man is fine and all, but I want hot join 10 man that’s not tournament play.

Not at all. You get points for defending in, say, LOL’s Dominion, but people don’t just sit on one point because you still get more points for being aggressive (considerably more points, in fact – where you get, say, 10 points every 10 seconds for camping a point, you get 40 points for neutralizing and 40 points for capturing a point – which is the equivalent of getting 2.5 points every 10 seconds sitting on a point in GW2).
Yes, you get all that glory… which is good for what again?
To look cute?
A lot of people play for the dress-up. You’re not going to get very far by mocking them.
