increase pvp runes stats by 670 instead
Yes to more stat customization in PvP.
No to your proposal, for a variety of reasons:
- Runes are used primarily for their effects, with stats being secondary. If stats become overwhelmingly the main reason, why even have different runes?
- You can’t just multiply all stats on a rune. Even-bonus rune stats are balanced against ability bonuses.
- This creates dual-maintenance between PvP and PvE/WvW.
- It confuses new players who see two versions of the same thing, one with bigger stats.
- Power builds typically want 5 stats (power, precision, ferocity, toughness, vitality), which you can’t really do with rune + amulet.
The best and simplest solution is just split the PvP amulet into multiple items and let players mix and match like they can do in PvE/WvW. A 50/25/25% split or something similar is all that’s needed.
- One interface change required.
- Artwork for rings already exists for most stat combos (the jewels from the old system).
- Keeps the system isolated fromWvW/PvE but no maintenance needed.
- Can add a combo e.g. Dire to a ring or amulet but not both if it might be too good as a full set.
- Not confusing. The most confusing part for new players is finding the “PvP Build” button and explaining that their PvE/WvW gear stats don’t apply in PvP.

Going to have to agree with the second post here, but OP brings up a very solid point and that’s about stat customization.
In my opinion, once SPvP has absolutely no stat customization at all after stats are taken away from traits … I really feel like build diversity will diminish even further. I am unable to wrap my mind around how Anet thinks that this is good for the game. Maybe it will work in PvE, but that’s because you will still have stat customization but in SPvP we will have everything lumped into one amulet and a runeset.
Yet another layer of depth from builds is being taken away due to design choices that seem completely catered to PvE / casual gameplay. I don’t see why they even bother trying to be a part of ESL and set up tournaments considering how little effort they put towards SPvP in general.
Even with the incoming overhaul and changes … you take even more depth away from builds and you honestly just risk an even more stale meta than what we have now. Yeah, it might not be stale immediately because “ooh new and shiny”, but after a year or two of the same crap due to there being even less room for more build diversity, it’s almost like putting a nail in the coffin for SPvP and “esports” with this game.
(Which honestly, Arenanet, GW2, and esports do not belong in the same sentence. Arenanet obviously has no idea wtf they’re doing when it comes to balance and thus rely on trying to make builds more simplified than they already are probably because they assume average players are less than themselves in terms of understanding the game. This turns out however that they set the bar far underneath the actual threshold of average players because I’m sorry, I’ve yet to see an Anet employee that impressed me with game play in their own game.)
I’d have rathered, more than anything, for them to add Jewels that were 30% of the amulet stats… Why would this have been such a hard conclusion?

Bad idea. Runes are not only picked for stats, but also their other functionality. Chaining a large portion of your desired stats to a rune you hate will backfire.
A-net’s ain’t any better either. All this talk of power, but you both parties here forget about freedom.
Traitlines let me choose additional stats without being chained to an amulet, on top of that how deep and in how many traitlines i went defined how much and how many stats would i get from there. Stats of my choosing, not limited by amulets or runes.
(though limited by being in 2 stats per trait sets).
What a-net should do is give us 5 or so stat boosts for us to choose, each usable once in our build.
Like pick between:
300 power
300 precision
300 ferocity
30% boon duration
30% condi duration
300 healing
and so on and so forth..
aye, thanks everyone for the feedback.
i understand that what i proposed may not be proper, but given how they have been shoving unpleasant spvp changes down our throats all these while.
all is vain indeed.
They should allow us to mix gear stats just like in pve..
I’d prefer they brought back jewels for amulets and let us mix more stats that way.

This ^
It would also be nice if they added a bit wider variety of amulets to PvP.
Something with power/vitality/ferocity would be very appreciated.
As would zealot & dire stats.
