I agree that leaderboard rewards should be in order for those like you who so heavily invest in it. Maybe a one-time reward per hitting each top 10 spot working retroactively if you manage to skip one or more on your way up? However, another issue could be abuse of the system with people up the leaderboard manipulating the system to get each other the rewards… I have no idea how that could be accounted for, though.

tbh your rewards for guild leaderboard are absolute trash as well. Like who is going to say “OOOOHHHH 5g and and some WOODEN PLANKS! WHAT I ALWAYS WANTED/NEEDED” like pvp players are broke. The least you could do is give us gem codes so that we may convert to a substantial amount of gold. No-one is going to go all Ga-Ga over 5g and planks that sell for 20s altogether..

Now ranking up has meaning skill wise and it is not just the player with the team vs the players without a team in solo que. 2) players will be able to play pvp without feeling like it is extra pve content for gear. Furthermore cash is a great motivator for doing pvp players will love working out their mind if they get rich off of it. 3) This is a give-in and the reason the community complains. League of legends gets few balance complaints and is often praised for its balance. Does league have overpowered classes? Of course they do. I think after S1 it should’ve been blatantly obvious anet thinks having a “legendary leaderboard” = prestige, when you get the same exact thing as joe grindsalot playing 600+ games to legend. There’s nothing to keep people playing, so naturally (queue times are a symptom of this) people go and play on their alts, play unranked, or quit until next season. I think it’s pretty funny though that the reward structure for their “legendary backpiece” was structured behind getting it across 4 seasons, I can’t even.
One of two things will happen after this proleague worlds implodes upon itself since I don’t see anyone investing money into a niche scene. Resume snails pace “balance patches” and introduce another arbitrary backpiece which would take at a casual pace 3 seasons to do (but it will be 4 seasons) or introduce more specializations with a future expansion further throwing the game into casual mode and let the competitive scene die more (if it already isn’t on deaths door right now).

I wouldn’t call the few people typing on the forums the player community, if they want to hear what the community has to say they should have some type of in game poll, because half the things people on the forum wants isn’t what the majority of players want and I think that’s why things are as bad as they are or at least part of the reason, because certain individuals who like to complain about builds and professions that they don’t play and want to get them all nerfed so theirs will be the strongest REALLY messes things up for the rest of the people playing this game. I for one think we need more support builds, I hate getting 1 shotted it’s not fun, and I’m sure newer players hate it even more because they will never learn how to play if they stay dead 100% of the time.

But the reality is a player screams mesmer op in game when their stomped by them. And if I ever take down a player with a mesmer I am told by them to play a real class. The issue really is that the in-game community is beginning to sound like the forums.
Also, I mean no offense but I want to make a point. When have you gotten one shotted? Warrior cannot get one shotted due to defy pain passive. Elementalists cannot be one shotted due to arcane or earth passive traits. Engineer cannot be one shot either due to… again passive traits. necromancer can use Deathshroud to avoid being one shotted. And to top it all of Mesmer cannot be one shotted because the minute anything happens to it it will pop distortion or its own passive traits. There is only one class in the game that can get one shotted and that is thief which everyone should know needs an HP buff. (Realistically a good thief will just pop bandits defense every ~12 sec when stunned or in trouble as it is one of the most efficient skills in the game to the point that I don’t think a thief can play without it currently especially thief vs thief match-ups where each team has at least one thief.)
Also, current sustain is different from the ability to absorb damage short term. Sustain currently means you can out heal your opponent or keep up with their damage through healing or a defense rotation. This is what has caused the power creep we see now. more damage is needed to compensate with all this healing that they refuse to nerf significantly.

Um I’ve been on teams where the whole entire team goes in and dies in like 3 seconds and I have been 1 or 2 shotted by thiefs and reapers, and almost 1 shotted by warriors, We used to have a lot more good support builds than we currently have and that tempest support build is boring and doesn’t work very well for me. And I’m sure if you asked all the people in the game you’d get more people saying they like support builds than people saying get rid of them. ( and I don’t remember which character I was on when this happens since I play almost all characters equally)

Support builds cannot stop a coordinated attack from 3 players obviously. Druid has enough support as it is if they want to add support builds they have to figure out a way to prevent support builds from dishing out damage because that is the major issue with sustain currently. It isn’t just that they survive, they crush anyone who isn’t also half bunker because they also dish out damage. Just look at inspiration on mesmer. shatter’s heal them and remove conditions. Along with a free idefender for 50% damage reduction. A mesmer now can run damage without worrying about defense because it is already built in. If they don’t play inspiration they can rely on their short CD defenses to mitigate damage constantly. This is one example. Elementalitst are in a similar spot. It is just downright ridiculous at this point. A person could send elementalist vs elementalist and it would be a fight on point that lasts forever unless the team steps in. Now send a thief in… The thief is most likely going to die or run and will definitely not capture the point unless of course the team steps in. This is a significant issue. Who wants to play a game where players lose the ability to take each-other out within a reasonable amount of time?

Omg I did something similar. It’s actually a bit funny bcoz when you get a q popped , you still need to pray everyone accepts it.
Tbh, at pvp current condition, idk what can fix it. But proper reward is probably the easiest and most impactful think to do. It will give shorter queue and more players poll for the matchmaking. The second thing would probably fix matchmaking. Idk why it tends to group up people with high mmr (low player poll?)?

What is with you and one shots? A terrible assumption is being made that I love squishy assassins that one shot people. I mainly run bunker builds and one shotting is not an issue for any half decent player including myself. I may not be #1 but I sure don’t get one shotted. I don’t call for sustain nerfs so that I can one shot. That will never happen. I call for sustained healing and defense nerfs so that you cant out heal a player built for full damage for more than 2-3 minutes.
But getting back on topic I had previously noted that the other two elements required to help pvp are rewards and regular balance patches. These are essential in addition to the sustain nerf aimed at rewarding skillful gameplay.

im all for better rewards but did u just ask devs to give only the number 1 player rewards and not the rest of pvp community? not everyone can no life grind thier way to number 1. its already bad that after 2 season there is no more rewards for some players, and u only concern about the #1 at the leaderboard.

That’s the problem. Anet’s system is so bad that you still have to wait 20m for an unranked queue pop. And there are people who do host inhouses but theres no actual fun to it. Its literally people trying so hard when its just supposed to be matches for fun. Tournaments are already being held so why do I need to waste time making a private one. And you should get “more and more and more for playing the game”, its how you attract publicity and keep the interest level in the game high. But if anet cant take help from its own community when we’re just trying to make it better for others, whats the point in having a “forums” .

What is the point in progressing through their “league” if you don’t get any incentive from it. What is even the point in having the league in the first place? I’m afk in hotm more than I’m ever actually playing this game because it seems to take 45m just to match me against the same people, with the same people on my team, with the same match outcome.
Anet wants this game to become an ‘E-Sport’ but from the looks of it, theyre trying to get rid of their players. There is no gain from pvp’ing in the slightest, so why waste time in pvp at all. You might as well remove pvp. Then if you’re not going to take suggestions to make your PvP better for all, then why even have pvp devs.
I’m trying to address issues that people who still want to play the game have so that maybe a dev will actually take time to address them. But ya know, ill just afk in hotm havning the time of my life until that happens

Start solo queuing instead of 3 manning if you want to pvp more often.
And at the very least, you should have already known that by season 1 the rewards were crap for getting to legendary.

I’m actually quite confused anet. I’m currently #1 on Legendary Leaderboard for NA and there’s like no point. There is absolutely no point in being #1 because you guys don’t even give us a reward. It basically makes us look like no lifes who play your game by being #1. I have 403 games won with 40 losses. It’s real discouraging to continue pvp’ing and to be honest, playing your game, when there’s no gain from it. What am I supposed to do? Have bragging rights? Oh yeah because everyone knows that division = skill. A person not known in the pvp scene can climb the leaderboards just by putting on the MMR favored team when they have absolutely no player skill. Your pvp is absolutely boring with nothing new/fun being implemented to it. If I’m supposed to no life my way up your league and not receive any sort of gain from doing so, what is the point in even continuing to play pvp. And while I’m at this league stuff, how about these queue times huh? Its real satisfying to keep doing ranked, and even unranked, when you have to sit through 30m to 2hr queues just for a match that lasts for 5m and is usually a 500-0. I have yet to have one fun match this season, because they’re always blowouts. Top tier players fighting people who barely understand their classes role on a team. I’ve went on a car trip to Kroger, stopped for gas and Wendy’s and came back only to still be in a queue. Something is wrong here anet… I mean a suitable reward for being #1 might be a free legendary/precursor, 5k gems, something of that nature. Quite frankly no one cares too much about titles and would only cause even more rage from people who spend a lot of time waiting in queues, sitting in hotm more than they are actually ever in a match.

So…in other words, you’re upset because you think that you’re so special and that you deserve more than everyone else and it’s just not fair.
Look, queue times for upper ranks need to be addressed, but the rest is just pathetic, entitled whining.You are the one that played to get to the number one spot, so if you don’t like the lack of tangible reward, then maybe you should have just done something else with your life instead of wasting so much time playing a game you obviously don’t enjoy to achieve something you don’t care about.
I mean, I would be impressed at your PvP prowess if not for how obviously foolish you are to waste your life and for how much of an entitled prick you are by the way you’re acting here.
Seriously, uninstall the game, take a vacation, and get some perspective on what you’re doing with the limited time you have on this earth. Life is too short.
What is the point in progressing through their “league” if you don’t get any incentive from it. What is even the point in having the league in the first place? I’m afk in hotm more than I’m ever actually playing this game because it seems to take 45m just to match me against the same people, with the same people on my team, with the same match outcome.

It’s a kittening video game. The point is to have fun and to push yourself to perform as best as you can. If you don’t think that’s enough, then does some other generic desk in of your avatar or some new word/phrase that appears under your character’s name suddenly make all those hours of your life somehow justifiably spent?
I don’t know what you’re looking for, but I’m pretty sure you aren’t either. If you can’t find anything from all your time spent to be of any worth, the. You seriously need to learn how to plan ahead with how you spend your time much better.

Qt cj, plz go outside bruh, we have been through this mang…. but yea our qs are aids af, me u n jeff waiting 25 min ranked q just to break it an play unranked cuz we wanted to play fun stuff…. like wtf, and yea I have 0 incentive to q in legendary. Its also really kittenn annoying when I have ASK people in legend to q so I can get a pop, gr8 system, also ive had 0 legend games where the losing team has broken 200 points

Yeah, they should give you something for being on top, but the waiting times are your own responsibility. It was “the top players” crying in season 1 that the system is kitten and stuff and that it takes forever to get into legendary again, yadda yadda.
You won’t get new blood into legendary, because a kitten ton of players are stuck in diamond on losing streaks vs legendary players. So, deal with your kittenty queue times, while everyone else deals with the unbalanced matches the new system forces upon us and finally quits the game.

Pretty sure nobody was crying about making alt accs to farm ppl since 1 amber= a free win when you queued boosted 4 other ppl. They can tweak matchmaking as much as they want, but it wont improve overall player populations which taper after around 2-3 weeks max at the start of a league.
Here’s an insightful thing to think about: If a person is carried by a high mmr, is every person on their team being carried by someone else while also simultaneously carrying another player?
Your “insightful” question is nonsense and I hope you know it. There is always 1-2 players that carry 3-4 not that good players. If this wouldnt be the case every match would be a draw.
In S1 more people got into higher divisions, the matches weren’t totally one-sided and you could grind your way up. In the end most of the players ended up in the last 3 divisions and had at least fun matches. That’s why the queue times weren’t terrible. You could even play for fun in ranked or try to get better because you had team mates that could teach you a thing or two.
In the system in S2 and S3 there is no fun. People get teamed either with all good or all bad players. You lose your matches by a large margin or win by a large margin. You either have a long win streak or a long losing streak. That’s not fun, you learn nothing and you can’t “carry” people in your team.
Even if two really good players end up in a team of three bad ones, they won’t win the match in most of the cases.
That’s why the majority stops playing or go afk in matches to get at least some stupid achievements. I never had queue times above 6 minutes before Season 2.
The only reason to play pvp for most players is that achievement kitten, before the backpack less people played pvp but the queue times weren’t that long.
I really don’t know if you need to be rewarded for playing pvp. I pvp for years and never did it for a reward. I was happy when I had good matches and I had tons of good matches before this season failure in this game.
