So its day 4 now and i say Temple of the silent storm passes with my 100% approval for entering the 5v5 competitive playlist. from the many ppl i talked to they fill the same also so good job.

i like that temple was put in for so long only being able to play it now that we had to constantly play it this really helped me learn the map (i hadn’t been anywhere on that map except the mid to duel before until Monday) and come up with strats.

Now i think to be fair we should give Raid Of The Capricorn a chance also. it doesnt have to be for a week maybe just 2 days but you should let us see that map in a 5v5 competitive lvl.

Ppl say they dont like it but that is just because they have only played it 8v8 and that map in 8v8 is a zerg fest because under water is not were ppl want to go. If we look at this game from a Esport stand point (ppl watching us play) then you will admit ROTC is the most entertaining map to watch.

you have the best looking visual map. you have on land and underwater battles, you have sharks and cannons map specific interaction, you have great kiting areas, you have awesome open area fighting areas. this map to me has more to entertain the viewer then any other map.

this could just be my opinion and thats fine but i think we should give ROTC at least 2 days in competitive play to see for sure.

Absolutely not. Underwater is extremely unbalanced and there is no way to stomp. If they add the map into the rotation, itll suck.

Nop for me,

I hate underwater fight.

Seems like skill are really unbalanced, and no stomp is hells.

Ranger would dominate this map.

And I just hate the 3d fight, I never know if I’m under someone or behind.

Many build wouldn’t work (Engineer -> 100 nades, flamethrower build, Necro wells /elite summon ect)

RotC falls under the category of a “fun, casual” map that isn’t supposed to be played on competitively. ArenaNet has said several times before they’re not afraid to occasionally release these kinds of maps to deviate from the norm and keep sPvP fresh.

When they balance underwater skills, replace the unusable utilities/elites, add stomp, make it attracting, why not.

I think most people don’t realize there are “hot join” server for 5v5 (#/10).. I know most people use those server as dueling servers but that is simply because they are located at the bottom of the list.
They are for people without a group to play 5v5, ( frees you should que with a group)
When I cant find a group I jump on the smaller 10 man hotjoin servers and just got to the one with the most people.
IMO the 10 slot servers shouldn’t be listed last.

I’d prefer not. I’ve only seen 2/3 of the map because I won’t go into the water with the awful combat, and I have no desire to change that.

The less of the map I see the better.
Auto /leave in hot-join when it pops up. I’ve played it enough.
UW needs it’s own trait board not shared with land for one, skill selection is terrible and skills need a look at on top of the stomp problem.
I have played 8v8 maybe twice since 5v5 came out, it’s still got issues in a 5v5 format.
cannon seems to bug itself as well at times

1) Make the center point an island above the water.

2) Make the cannon more useful and trebuchet-like in importance and overall effect.

Problems solved. Capricorn is now tourney-viable.

Anet has enough on their plate balancing ground combat as is. As long as underwater combat remains as is, which is a unbalanced mess that doesn’t allow stomps. It doesnt have different Cd’s then above ground giving 4/5 classes 2-4 more get out of jail free cards. Nor does it have a seperate trait list making 9/10 builds that are good above ground complete crap underwater. Also the utility selection and elite selection of some classes are a complete joke. They have way more important things to do then make that map of tourney quality.

This. Holy freaking cow are rangers overpowered in underwater.
Also, underwater isnt especially fun.

But, they need to work on somethings, like underwater stomp or quick way to kill b4 they can have significant underwater in a map.

Ive already seen rangers/eles being annoying enough in temple of the silent storm by running into the water when low where they are near impossible to kill.

No thanks, the map is bad in all ways:

1: Underwater combat is not balanced enough. And it’s too different from playing on land, meaning that players has to totally switch up their gameplay, for the minimal amount of time they are in the water. Who’s going to bother learning underwater combat, if you are only under water for 10% of a match? If you’re gong to make an underwater map, you make the whole map be under water. But honestly, underwater combat should just be a PvE and WvW thing, and be left out of sPvP.

2: Raid on the Capricorn is simply badly designed. It’s just a flat “U” shaped map with water in between. That’s it. There are no secret passageways or corridors of any kind. It’s really, really boring to play.

3: The secondary map mechanics makes no difference at all. You can easily take the underwater capture point, while fighting the sharks off at the same time, or even fighting another player. The sharks have an absolutely minimal effect on the map. Half the time I forget that they are even there. And the cannon is just a useless decoration.

ok so after today and having ppl tell me they practiced underwater i think we came to the conclusion that ROTC should be put in competitivley for at least a day to see how it goes.

Build yourself a ranger turret on the underwater base ! downed state ranger being healed by pet=awesomeness.

Additinally this map would just not be popular, too many people would hate the underwater combat. So , even if it was balanced, it would be too annoying.
