the matchmaking is broken in gw2. we played agaisnt top100 player and then the next match we player against new player in this game. see picture to understand

just for information i’m top 800. And this is getting a bit annoying
playing against kaed, im not that good

First game, we got player like Grouch and Caed against us. (I’m not QQing at all, it doesn’t matter to me anyway.)

This looks like EU solo queue only much like my team. My bad MMR made me ragequit solo queues altogether because no matter how good I am or how amazing and faceroll my build is I can’t carry 4 rank 10’s who just bought the game and thought “hey we know nothing about this game… let’s solo queue.” As far as team queues go I normally play with my WvW guildies and I know they’re not the most experienced when it comes to sitting on points but we seem to faceroll every team we come across except for teams with players that have 5k+ wins who obviously win due to their experience and knowledge of mechanics.
E.g.: second game we played last night one of my guildies got kicked out of Guild Wars after queue popped and couldn’t get back in for about an hour but we still won the 4v5 match. (I’ll link screenshot when I get on my PC.)

5k wins+ wow where did you find that guy I would guess it being NA, i do not recognize any name.

Oh man I feel you. There will be nights I queue in team and just face Goodfights (#1 guild NA) over and over again. Then we queue dodge them and destroy some new players 500-xx. It’s actually very rare to have a good game.

Those players are NA (played vs them).

Is it too much to ask for less hyperbole? 5k wins is 3.5k more than I have as a r42. It is much easier to understand your argument when you tell us something that is somewhat substantive.

Okay maybe 2k+. Perfect example of missing the point tho. I gave an example of how rare even matchups are when I know of 3 other teams that are queueing at the same time and of equal skill and we never get matched with them.
We do end up meeting the same teams at least 3 times / night and at times they know how we play and try to counter it but that’s kinda rare.

matchmaking is really bad in this game……its maybe because there is 1500 pvpers.

Yes Justin, it was team arena. I quit frankly believe that winning 609-17 is a little drastic and it does not boost moral for new or casual players. I personnally wouldn’t like being crush like that. It is pretty annoying for that matter since we had player against top 150 right before.

just to add up that in Solo queuing there is the same probleme but usually people just quit when this happens.

I love the facs that new players come to try tpvp, but i mean really when i watch those picture i see there is a major issue with MMR or the game is just dead..
If I were a new to the game, I wouldnt enjoy getting trolled by people who play with devs, lets say its far from been sportsmanship, and it is hard for me to see new players fit and adapt..

Is it really Matchmaking algorithm issue or a population issue?

If you sit in queue long enough it will eventually just throw you whatever team that is available.

People should form some mid-tier PvP guilds. One of our main problems is that most of our teams/guilds won’t really accept anyone under ~r40 or so.

The population is also relatively low, but I think there are plenty enough people to have good matches. It’s just that most of them are polarized.

When i wait 30+ mins for soloq to pop up on EU i know its pretty much dead, and actually i gave up.. That said gw2 is pretty bad when it comes to pvp as it is all about build vs build. So good load of new games coming out in 2014.

today i did match with guildies, all of us were around 17-30
enemy team was 57-60 o_o

I strongly recommend we implement a slider in the option to let players adjust how fast their MMR range for matchmaking expands. If they want fast matchmaking, they can drag it farther. If they want quality matches, they can restrict it to slower.

I find that if you want reasonably balanced matches you have to que in prime/peak hours (for solo q at least). If you’re not/unable to do this, expect a certain amount of unbalanced matches. Out of my last several matches, I’ve been fortunate enough to only have had a handful that were definitely one sided, and these were during early AM hours. The issue really does seem to stem from population more than anything else.
