Regarding Courtyard, just curious about the wiki entry, as I don’t ever recall a separate mode being “added” officially. I’ll be honest, I HATED when the map got selected while playiyng in unranked. It was like…. let’s jam courtyard into the unranked queue, where when that 1/10 vote happens, everyone (else) gets angry and has to swap builds, or the 5/10 occurs, because a premade feels like stomping on pugs. The map also had a huge problem where pugs would continuously trickle in after respawning, leading to a snowball for whichever team gets early momentum. Still… seems such a shame that it’s basically only available in custom arenas.

Just curious what people would think about adding the ability to specifically queue for “team deathmatch” style maps.

I think it should have always been that way. Anet probably didn’t come up with this idea until stronghold was implemented.

I wasn’t a big fan of deathmatch when it came out because I was fairly new to pvp at that time but it actually improved my teamplay a lot and by the time it got removed I had become very fond of this map. So yeah, I’d really like to get deathmatch back AND have a seperate mode preference.

Courtyard was a great map for death match. It had so much potential and felt very similar to WoW arenas. The main problem was that the map, imo, was best suited for 3 v 3.

And it should have been done similar to WoW, only best of 3 and you had a small prep time in between to change your builds if you needed to. It would have added an additional meta game to the map.

I never minded courtyard that much. Its not like unranked matches were going to be super conpetetive on another map.

I personally enjoyed the deathmatch. It was a break from the usual conquest. No secondary objectives, no pressure of team roltations, just kill or be killed.

It was good and had it been supported as an “arena” type 3 v 3 format, it would have been successful. We had, at the time, many 3 v 3 matches that worked out great on this map.
