this is brand new for me tbh:) i have been playing pvp since launch and i have seen some incredible dagger eles and some really good thieves but i have never seen necromancers as a threat since today:)

i have an engineer wiht a glass cannon build with low armor but i can honestly tell you i haven’t lost many 1vs1s but this guy was different, he burst me down while tanking another guy at the same time it was so fast even faster than a thief so it was weird cause this wasn’t 1vs1 and i am impressed; so anyone has any idea what build that was? that makes him burst me down in 2 seconds and tank the other guy??

With Power builds Necros can do great damage with Wells, Lich Form, and the Dagger Main Hand. They have some defensive issues though that you could exploit. Without knowing exactly what he was doing though, it’s difficult to give you advice.

I am really good versus thieves and other melees eventhough i have low armor but it is really hard to counter a damage that comes from range cause you have no idea what he is doing and thats an issue, i can counter ever class including hunters but necromancers are hard to read…

Just kite a d/d necro. He has to be close to do damage and chances are he has no mobility at all. Also they have no evasion and basically just get 1 shotted by thieves. On my power build a 12k backstab was standard and I even saw 10k heartseekers.

the weird thing is he was long range not close, he had another guy on his back and i was pretty far from him…

Best way for a necromancer to burst from long range is a Terror build (Terror is a necromancer trait that makes Fear tick for damage). With a Rabid or Carrion amulet they can get ticks over 1200 and with staff they can chain into a 4-second fear. If you get loaded up with bleeds and don’t have a stun break you will drop very fast.

i wasnt feard cause i was never close to him, i can burst from range so i had no reason to get close to him but i suddenly drop from full health to 20 percent health than tried to heal but wasnt fast enough to heal so we are talking about 2 or 2 and a half seconds tops..

Combat log. Then we can know.

You don’t have to be close for a necro to fear you -.- they can do it from 1200 range with staff, 900 range from DS.

Maybe he was berserker with 30 in spite and traited for staff. You can get 4k crits on Putrid Mark that way.

Next time this happens, check the combat log.

if the target nuking the necro was a condition spec, and the necro was equipped with the appropriate slotted utilities, if he had ~10 stacks of bleed on himself, you could theoretically go from 0 bleeds to 25 stacks in the spam of a few seconds.

That, and then DS burst (because after he sends you all sorts of conditions, he gets all your boons, so extra damage lewts).

Yeah a low health pool against a Terror build could feasibly kill someone extremely quick as well. We simply need more information on what the OP experienced, but without more detailed memories I don’t think we are going to get much more out of this. Especially if it was Epidemic’d to him without realizing it.

There isn’t any ranged nuke spec that I know of. The best ranged build for this would be something like a power/crit build using axe/warhorn + staff, along with ‘Blood is Power’ and ‘Well of Suffering’. 10 stacks of might (perhaps more) and 12-15 stacks of vulnerability can make axe #2 and death shroud hit really hard.

I am suspicious about this necro being able to successfully tank another player while doing this, however.

The other player “on the necro’s back” may not have been a threat at the moment. If the necro threw down some marks or wells, the other player may have been crippled, feared, etc. for a few seconds. Giving the necro time to focus on you.

I often ignore a player on my necro when I am focused on a certain objective…break down a door, run to a point, killing someone/something else. Just lay down marks or wells, or sic pet on them to buy me some time.

If it wasn’t melee (d/f or d/d wells) the only ranged abilities would be lich form or ds (life blast) that could do that type of damage.

With life blast and might stacks you can hit for 4k + on low toughness targets.

It seems like OP didn’t look at the combat log to see what killed him or didn’t attempt to understand it… in either case, how can we even be sure it was the necro that actually did all the damage no offense, but it’s impossible to tell what happened with the lack of info here.

I got nuked by a necro last night on my warrior – it was Hanzo (a prominent necro poster) and I’m like how in the world did he stack those bleeds so fasst?!?! then I realized there was another necro with him there too lol

I bet he got burst down by warrior with killshot or something like that from a distance and didn’t notice while he was engaging the necro. Combat logs are important!

When a Necro tries to well bomb me, I just enter Death Shroud.

Sucks to not be a Necro. For only this reason, though.

My guess is it was an axe necro with a power build. But ya, next time check out your combat log so you can see what hit ya and people can give you better advice.

you will see threats coming when theres 2 necromancers and 2 mesmers in the same team while you playing as a warrior
