how long you want to lose even before nerf these builds mesmer? many people they’ve already gone and many more will leave, you’re just starting to get to those who had believed in your greater attention to the pvp side that you are not absolutely considering if not useless promises that were minimally maintaining

because “nerf these builds mesmer” is perfectly described problem with suggested possible solution…

its funny that forice and now fire are both complaining about, specifically, mesmer clones.

Mesmers are pretty OP in the hands of someone who understands the class and knows how to play it effectively.

Luckily, a lot of the people playing Mesmers are just dudes who got stomped by Mesmers so much they gave up and jumped on the bandwagon.

It really is an easy class to dominate with in PvP. It takes a little more time and patience to understand how to play the class than a 100B Warrior or PW/HS Thief, but once someone understands how to play it, it becomes pretty powerful.

Even the builds that don’t require tons of clones, like power/precision GS builds.

Each and every Mesmer Build has a counter to them. The common bottom denominator to all of them is AoE damage and condition fields. Mesmers have to trait a VERY specific way to continually counter conditions and even then it’s at the sacrifice of their strongest offense and defense.

Mesmers currently have no strong counters to AoE damage, tends to wipe out clones and phantasems easily. Paired with condition fields it is typically a surefire way to wear a mesmer out quickly and kill them.

I’ve explained this several times, I have seen it in practice on both sides of the field and have even contributed. Yet the forums seem to remain ignorant of it.

Noone likes to hear that they have to step up their ‘A’ game and learn.

Only reason ‘I’ know how to counter a mesmer is that I play one in PvE. That is my main and I know a fair bit about their tricks. and what their weapons so and how to ‘hopefully’ avoid their strongest abilities.

Far too many times, people lay down chaos storm at the wrong times. They use it as a deterent, rather than their most powerful weapon in their arsenal. When a ‘good’ mesmer uses it, its both a weapon, and a boon. In the hands of a good mesmer, a chaos storm will never reveal who they are, unti you are flat on your back, ready to be stomped by them.

Far too few stafff weilding mesmers are ‘that good’.

I don’t know. I avoid staff usage and condition builds as it clashes with my personal style of the class. (Sword user.)

I’ve attempted the use of sword and staff before, and while I found the ability to pretty much be everywhere on screen entertaining (as you’re never really sure where I am.) I was having difficulty transforming it into an effective build for long term use in sPvP.

I’ll eventually re-attempt it but I’m finding good fortune with an offensively-geared, defensively traited build.

They are most annoying to fight against. Someone posted up stats of how most classes do in bg’s over a set amount of games and mesmer has the lowest skill cap. Bad players jump on the banwagon thinking its a fotm and it shows through the amount of bad players there are playing them. You prob just came up against a good one, and now label the whole profession as op.

There are no op classes, just op players.

Ctrl + T is your friend.

If your class is built solely for 1 v 1 and you don’t really have AOE skills to kill off clones or Phantasms, you will have a harder time.

But just like Mesmers (or really, everybody) are forced to use/have stun breaks because of 100 Blades Warriors or Pistol Whip Thieves, so should you be forced to have some AOE dmg skills.

Merciless pretty much described the reason why I’m married to Greatsword on Mesmer. Berserker AoE + Bouncing sword attack + having illusions spawn at point blank for shatters.

Still, unlike other AoE specialists, (or Chaos storm, our ONLY damage field.) I’ve got to have a valid target for all of those.

It sounds like he just sneezed on you. Did your Backstab or Pistol Whip miss?

I know, OP so right. Mesmoar is like Braveheart and Saving Private Ryan had baby, and baby raised in Sparta. So sick of getting MOAd, then time warp, then mass invisibility at same time, then I die. Mesmoar clones all look alike and hit for 5k per second. So OP.

#3, #3? Those abilities have cooldowns on all mesmer swords…must have been a painfully long cat and mouse game.

I am guessing this is a joke as all 3 abilities take up the elite slot.

no. my backstab didnt crit. gege.

doing it wrong. thief backstab build is easily the most faceroll spec ive tried. steal→stealth(you typically have 3)→SoA→backstab 1 shot.

your obviously not running the 100% crit stealth trait which means your spec is terribad for backstabbing.
