Guild Wars 2

ok so im new to guild wars 2. I heard this is a awesome game. i need help picking a champ? is mesmer a good 1? also i heard of a place called anvil rock where everyone can talk is this true? i was told to talk to hman, vain, davinchi, qboom, ovi, and a few other on advice in to the competitive seen. so any advice i can get so i can be the best please give to me.

Mesmer is very bad champion. Many ghosts but no dps. Only good vs noob who attack phantoms.
You want hunter. It has double dps because animal attacks and also hunter attacks.

Rogue or Paladin is also nice. Either you want to be stealthy against hunters with animals or tanky against Mesmer with ghosts………………… o.O…………………………..
