Guild Wars 2

So I’m not new to the game, but I have only just recently started pvp-ing. can someone help explain to me how/why the builds are supposedly different from regular pve or wvw builds? if anybody has some suggestions for a build I would welcome that too. oh and I usually play thief, its just the class I’m most comfortable with.

Well, builds are different because in pvp every player plays with his team in order to get objectives done, so you can have builds oriented on teamfights, on holding nodes, on roaming fast for all the map in order to steal enemy nodes or 2v1 ppl, etc…

For thief, as for any other class, you can take a look on metabattle.com where you have some predetermined builds and some tutorials that can help you how to pvp

Go for a solo build and get the idea of team play out of your head unless you wanna go with a pre-made team.

^ and that’s exactly why I hate playing with pugs… Saying to get team play out of one’s head is wrong and will hurt him more in the long term.
Yes he should learn how to play at first, but knowing when decapping far, +1 a fight or helping a teammate to peel off should be mandatory to learn as a thief. All of this is team play. Not getting in outnumbered fight, learn to wait a few sec in spawn to rally with teammates, knowing to go home with 2 people at start of a game or hell, just listening to what people tell you to do in a game is team play…

my advice, play a burst class and join the broken pvp. no more strategy needed, who ever burst first wins
