people constantly leaving hotjoin
i dun understand why ppl play HOtjoin..to slove the quetime issue is simple just remove hotjoin and ppl will join unrank…to me even when hotjoin is around the que time is quite fast average 3min wait time
Hot Join is a test area more than a real match.
If I go in hot join is only to test a class/build or practice a little.
If you want to do some matches where no one is autorized to log out or swap team, try Unranked or Ranked matches.
what is the best for someone who queues solo? unranked?

To learn a class, unranked. To play for real, ranked. If they remove Skyhammer and Courtyard then I could recommend unranked, but really I only suffer unranked if I am learning a brand new class.

ok thanks i will see how that works out for me
You don’t play hot joins with the goal of winning as a team lol. I had experience once when someone whispered to me ‘all you other engis that are not rank 80 gtfo! Hot joins are for rank 80s to get their dailies’ I was loling so hard because I have been rank 80 for 2 years now but I was testing a new engi build trying out diff ways to power burst with scholar runes. He than went on to spectate me and said how can a rank 80 be running scholar runes lol. Sometimes I wonder what happened to all the real pvpers the ones who don’t run meta builds, the ones who create new builds and try to make em work. Nowadays everyone and their grandma is a rank 80 and they think they are so pro. Ranks are so easy to get now sometimes I just wish they revert it back to the old ranking system at least there won’t be so many rank 80s around.. I remember when I got shark it was such a big accomplishment now it’s like meh. Tldr: hot joins are to practice and test builds:D Ps if you see someone using a dolyak finisher maybe it’s because he likes it.
Hotjoin is only for cheating for the daily for the pve’ers that aren’t good enough to win a real match.
I got to HJ for the classes I want to practice, I am not super good with Mesmer, Engi…
Going to solo queue with those classes seems unfair to my team mates.
Hotjoin could do with some more rules, for sure. The ability to join a game immediately is great, but people abuse it way too much (maintaining 4v5, switching teams…).
Unranked/ranked games have queue times, and waiting 3 minutes while doing nothing is pretty stupid already. And when you finally join a game, more than often you get unbalanced games, 4v5, people insulting one another or whining, people NOT playing Conquest (zerging, rushing secondary objectives, not planning/managing nodes control…).
There’s a lot of improvement to be made, in all types of arenas.
people insulting each other is something i have seen a lot since coming back to the game a few days ago. This morning i entered the pvp lobby and some people had an argument going on, I joined a match and two different guys had a different argument with a ton of insults going on. Literally a match later some guy i must have killed started insulting me in tells about my apparently easy to play spec. Though I didn’t care and simply put that guy on ignore, I must say I did not enjoy the whole experience. Add to that people constantly leaving the games and it was a bit much and I logged off.
Dont know if that was just a bad coincidence of people arguing or if this is a result of the game now being free to play or unhappiness about the state of pvp as a whole or people just feeling a teeny bit too anonymous behind their screens.
So I get it, hotjoins isn’t what I expected it to be, that’s cool, just hope I will find matches in the arenas since I am mostly playing very early in the day.

People choose hot join because ranked/unranked arena is too toxic (many unpolite players, insults, afk ing, etc. and anet does nothing about that.
Many times I suggested changes in hot join system since in 95% of the matches it is completely unbalanced. It makes any kind of practice/training completely ineffective.

Next would be to solve the rising afker, rage quitters, leavers problem.
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant
After messing around with hotjoin for a couple weeks until I got comfortable with my build, I hardly ever play it anymore. The only exception is when I really have no time to play that day and just want to join a daily room to get them all done at once, or if I am switching toons and want to reacquaint myself with the rotations.
I usually have a much better time in arena matches. I think the fact that you can’t leave keeps out a lot of the miscreants who can’t deal with losing. I’m really surprised others have had negative experiences on a regular basis. Maybe 5% of the time one team will be all or most premade and the match is one-sided, but the rest of the time the matches are more or less competitive.
My only advice for anyone new to spvp or getting into spvp for the first time is please learn to play in hotjoin for a while until you get to the point where you are reasonably confident in your ability so you don’t let down your team.
I often choose hotjoin for the same reason I would randomly choose a server back when I played FPS games for several years: I just want to hop in and stomp around for a while. If it’s 4v5, whatever. If someone team swaps, no big deal. Winning doesn’t matter, losing doesn’t matter, you just enjoy the game for a while then log out.
I’ve thought about trying to find some public custom arenas for that same “familiar server” feel, but I have yet to pursue that. Regardless, I’m just there to kick it for a while, not try to prove I’m top dawg.
“He’s like a man with a fork in a world of soup.”
I’d simply avoid hotjoins if this is bothersome.
There are a variety of legit reasons one would leave a hotjoin match. And none of them have anything to do with the current score, team comp, or anything else. As others have said, they do it for practice, or to test a new build. I myself will jump in to practice now and again. I often jump into hotjoin for something to do while I’m waiting for a teammate to come back from a break. In the latter case, I will quit the match when teammate comes back, regardless of the score.
It’s the chain I beat you with until you
recognize my command!”
if i join a game thats 400-0 you bet your sweet bottom i am gonna leave said hotjoin there simply wont be enough time left to enjoy the match even a bit
This isn’t a problem… Play Now formally known as Practice formally known as Hot Join has always been a sandbox play pen for people to test strategies and builds.
The solution, is to play Unranked & Ranked.
You did bring up a good point bout the queue time and that is going to be addressed in one form or another with HoT release.
