people leaving hot join
It’s hot-join, which means the wins and losses are nothing. It’s absolutely no different than an FPS public server with people leaving and joining. Most of the time I don’t even notice if we’re winning or losing, I’m just enjoying playing the game and working on improving.
If you’re in it for the glory grind, perhaps you should re-evaluate why you’re playing Guild Wars 2.
“He’s like a man with a fork in a world of soup.”
for tournies – ok.
for hot-join – no.
Desolation
it’s not the glory grind, i like playing with a team and i don’t have to win all the time but 3 on 6 is not fun when 2 people on your team decide that being down 15 points means they should just leave and hot join another one. If anything i’m upset that people who glory grind leave when they think the’ll lose, and want to win so they try to find a new one
I don’t even notice. People have lives man, they might have to go do something irl — they can’t be stuck perpetually playing gw2.
edit: I’m just going by personal experience.

^Give me a break. What do you think plays a bigger factor in people quitting hotjoins:
1. Player has something important to do irl
2. Player ragequits after getting zerged and their team is behind
Such a coincidence that most people “have something important” irl to do right around when their team starts losing huh.
2 Mesmer (sPvP only)
People in general are terrible sports in competitive situations and would rather win than have what Patrick Rothfuss explained in the Kingkiller Chronicles as a “beautiful game”.
Nothing new to see here.

Thats fine but than you wouldnt mind them recieving a debuff not letting them join at least 15 minutes.
I agree with the OP. It is pathetic to see how people will just mass leave if theyre even a little behind, resulting in continuous autbalancing until it is basically 3v3 or less.
You join a game, you finish it at least. They would need to give you a change to leave without penalty after the match ends and before the next starts in sPvP of course.
a lot of people are not leaving, they are getting endless load screen, and when they get back on, forget what number they were on, its happened to me more than 20 times last night.
I don’t leave, no matter how bad it gets, until the match is over
I always leave right after the match glory is awarded, or before the next round begins
But sometimes, emergencies do call me away. I can’t always claim that I don’t leave mid-round. But its not due to rage quitting.
When I play hot-join I am usually testing out a new build or generally working on my timing.
The games don’t stop, and although most of the time I like to wait between matches to leave… sometimes I just split to tweak my build/gear or for RL reasons, or to go make a whiskey, or just because I feel like it.
That’s the whole point of it though, I thought. Jump in and out as you will, test out new builds and professions, and generally just fight against people where there isn’t much at stake.
For tPvP, there should be no leaving until the end. For random sPvP, who cares?

This is also true.
