The map is too small and all it would do is promote zergs.
Personally I have no attachment to this map at all, and underwater combat can go die as far as I’m concerned, but this….
remove the water,
fill it up with sand,
move the capture point into the ship!
….this has the seed of a promising idea! A Crystal Desert-themed map, with an abandoned, rotten ship in the centre? That would look pretty cool!

well, it is a hotjoin map though. i think people enjoy zerging in there. the cannon is also nice for blowing up zergs.

But how does removing the water and filling it up with sand not make more sense than just removing the map? At least that would result in something..
well, at least the pirate ship and the cannon balls would still be there.
we could also transform the map into a special game mode map, not exactly conquest mode.
maybe a king of the hill map with more focus placed in the center capture point inside the pirate ship.
while the 2 side points will act as kill score boosting points.
maybe i can elaborate more details in the first post.

I really like some parts of the layout and design of this map to be honest. I really wish they had more resources to improve maps so they become a viable and fun option for both hotjoins AND tournament play.

I don’t see why they can’t do something like they did in the Wv3 Borderlands when they drained the lake, seems a bit drastic getting rid of an entire map.
Thinking about Capricorn with the water removed sounds like it would make it a really good map. Leave the ship in game, it will just be beached. Players can still use the cannons and move through the ship.The point that was once under water could be the home of some great battles.

Without water this map actually would be a balanced skyhammer with a cannon with counterplay and no knockoff BS

not gonna lie, before skyhammer showed us all what true “map hatred” is i thought i hated Capricorn.
a point underwater (noone likes water combat),
the sharks mean even more NPCs than you’re average MM,Clone,Spirit fest.
plus the cannon, i’m not a fan of cannons/trebs/skyhammers and all of those cheap “i killed you from half the map away” weapons.
but if they removed the water and sharks thats 2/3 of my dislikes sorted!

it takes 6 months for them to make unnoticeably small nerfs to overpowered builds,
and that is just tweaking some numbers,
can you imagine how long it would take them to rebuild a pvp map? lol

It’s not about the map being unbalanced. It’s about the very existence of that single map requiring three extra pieces of equipment + sigils and a second skill set. It places a huge unnecessary burden on build-making, and would have added a bunch of extra work as well in making the new build UI.
If I remember correctly the map is an important piece of lore too, since it’s Peter the Lost’s ship.

They are removing this map, i bet so they can remove under water weapon system from pvp completely.

Sky hammer would be fine for hot join, but it doesn’t belong in solo queue.
And remove Capricorn now, but bring it back changed in the future with what OP suggested.

aye this seems fair and justified as they will need some time to remodel and then play test the map.
hopefully, the map will return in the future, with the water drained, and perhaps some kind of new hybrid game mode?

I don’t think there were many ppl running around in Hot Join with “Underwater-specs”. Most ppl just played their common Builds Underwater. Maybewith some other skills.
But so what?
Underwater combat is still in the game, it just isn’t in PvP anymore, it is even still in WvW.
I don’t see the burden “for the Buildmaking”.
simply filling up the sea with sand is unfortunately not as simple as it sounds
so this will not be enough time to do it
(especially since they need to talk to everyone else in this company as it seems.. )
and if they would do such a thing then.. it would be amazing if theship and some other things would look likeabandoned for like 200years

aye, i had plenty of fun with the cannon!
well, some not so fun times as well since i cannot wrest control of the cannon.
there were a couple of times when 2 players would control the cannon. i can’t get them off the cannon. though i would keep trying.
#ReviveCapricorn. No really, just remove the water and use one of the suggestions above to experiment with new game modes.

I’d be in favor of removing the underwater combat mechanics completely instead of removing this map. GW2 underwater combat was a terrible decision, virtually NO ONE likes it.
Good idea. Indeed pretty much no one likes underwater combat so moving the capture point to land is a decent option. I started to like this map after a while. Skyhammer has way more issues that need to be altered.
why do everybody complain about underwater fight ??? its a real innovative concept that other game never thinked of…it makes the game a little more unique compared to monster game like wow. i find it fun because we can try out new builds and kitten… theres more possibilties for strats etc….. if i was anet theres had been a full water map for a long time now. It brings something special to the game and you guys want to take it off ? Well….if they remove everything that was cool about that game …it wont end well. Theres some things that are annoying….but then you’ll get bored.
