instead of 3 points being able to be contested at once, limit it to one, the mid point. if you win mid and far, your team gets a point, and the round restarts. if the timer goes down and no one has won, both teams get a point. make the control points a lot bigger, maybe even as much 5 times (idk lol some kinda number though). first team to however many, say 5 points, wins.

bring back soloq (unranked) and teamq (ranked). no need for mm at all. the system is too faulty, most of the time it creates blowouts. its not fun. team deathmatch / king of the hill is easy to understand and people would probably enjoy it.

this new mode would give people an objective to fight over which anet seems to firmly believe in (pvp, wvw), all class roles would still be important, the only thing is that the whole tactical side of it would be gone. that is a loss, but it seems for most people its too much to grasp all at once. while theyre learning not only tactics, but the coordination aspect of it, and where those two meet (managing cds, what fights to take) everyone elses experience is being diminished. I’m not trying to hate on noobs at all, I’m still one myself, but I think that there are sooooo many choices to make for a new player that it is pretty overwhelming. they come from pve and think that they can just kill stuff and win, but that’s not how it is.

that’s how it could be though. I know I know, I’m catering to noobs, how foolish of me. think of it though, do you really like conquest that much? do you find it more enjoyable than what I have proposed?

King of the Hill, Deathmatch/Annihilation, Capture the Flag, and other PvP models all share the same fatal flaw:
MMORPG combat doesn’t work well when you concentrate a lot of people in the same area. Someone is either spiked hard and the fight snowballs, or you have a lot of AoE spam.

The beauty of conquest is that it naturally divides teams over many areas with a simple design, while still allowing for larger fights. Stronghold tried to divide across the map as well, but the system broke under its own complexity and lack of tuning.

have you played wvw? the combat there is fine. the meta will adapt.
