i looked at the pvp browser, it was a public server.

the name is “server <some 3 digit number>”

around 13/20 players. (8 vs 8 game with spectators)

i went inside only to realize all of them are dueling.

please stop this madness.

The simple answer to this is to have a variety of public servers as well as custom arenas. Public servers need to have duel functions.

The best thing they could do would be to allow dueling inside the heart of the mists. Seriously, I don’t know why they didn’t think to do that before the game released. It would make the mists area much more meaningful instead of just a place to wait for tournament queues. (I would prefer the option to duel anywhere in the world but this might take too much work figuring out which places to disallow dueling)

…thanks god as soon as they rank up they usually lose this bs rambo behaviour, after they realize they’re playing a team based game and how ridicolous they are…

People that enjoy dueling are dueling – stop them at all costs!

Really, though, the only reason I ever play sPvP is to duel. Just force the servers to specify that they’re dueling servers or something.

People are gonna trashtalk, no matter what. It’s the internet. And it’s an MMO with PvP. Trashtalking is like, a tradition in PvP. if you lose, and he calls you a bad, then whatever, you lost. If you wanna trashtalk go ahead, seriously, it’s just a game….

if i went into a public server with 2 players, then there is a high probability of the 2 person are dueling inside there, so i will avoid those servers.

so if i went into a public server with more than 10 players, i will expect it to be a normal game, not a server full of people dueling.

i like to duel and 1v1 and I never trash talk like that

Can you really say this is a big deal though? I play CS:GO and even on official servers if someone says “Knife round?” everyone in he server can agree to those gentleman’s rules. If the people in that server decided they’d rather duel it’s not like it doesn’t take less than 30 seconds to leave that server and join another one. chances are 2 friends went into an empty server to duel then as people joined they started dueling as well. I like to duel every now and then myself although GW2 is not a game balanced for 1v1, it’s balanced on a team vs team basis and there’s a lot of rock-paper-scissors aspect to the way specks work so sometimes you’ll find yourself out of luck cause you’re scissors and they’re rock.

trash talk is as much a part of live professional sports as it is video games.

the “gentlemanly” conduct and “sportsmanship” are not necessarily joined at the hip.

you can still play with an honest sportsman spirit and trash talk your foe. it is part of the psychological portion of the game.

Not even Pugilism, the “gentlemen’s sport” was devoid of trash talking.
