pvp losing its fun for me
must be game fatigue. all those issues have been around. currently pvp is best ive seen (been playing one year now)
thats basically me right now. i find myself doing hotjoins just for reward progress, one or two tournament games then going to play/do something else. one of biggest things that makes me sad is how i enjoy pvp but everyone is using the same builds and weapons. the lack of diversity and not being able to play my favorite builds/classes is taking a toll on me and its been like this for a while now. i want anet to make that one update that gets me fired up and want to pvp all day but who knows if or when thatll happen.
Too many people come into tourney games and go afk or just leave if they get skyhammer or maps they don’t like nowsaday. There’s nothing anet is doing to ramp up punishments for such players.

Those people are there because Anet forces them to be. They really wanna be hotjoin players but Anet felt the need to force bads or people who plain don’t want to be in a competitive match, to ruin them for others by removing progression for casual players.
I do find it funny that you jump straight to dishing out punishment without assessing what is suddenly causing so much of this behavior.

no one forces anyone anything. this is a game where each plays because they want so.
and yes, anet should be commended for trying to bring players to pvp. don’t blame developer if you cant get a team in a packed mists. honestly, players have all options, where you end up is your own doing.

Well you missed my point. Which was not that players are forced into sPvP. It’s that the players in sPvP are forced into queued matches(aka competitive ones that you are bound to once you enter).
Many of these players are casuals and really don’t want what queued matches offer in comparison to the carefree play of hotjoins. Many are there purely to advance reward tracks for skins, xmute charges, and w/e else they offer.
The problem is Anet with their infinite “wisdom” has punished some players by limiting track progression in hotjoin and custom arenas.
What this does is forces all those players you hate so much, to have to play and therefore potentially ruin, queued matches.
I’ve been getting into League of Legends. Once you get the hang of it, if you’ve never played, it’s a lot of fun. The community’s a bit worse, but you can just mute someone if they’re raging. It also has a capture point map.
I think if you start losing your fun, you should look to another game. ArenaNet just doesn’t have the resources (or the focus… probably the focus) to devote to one aspect of GW2, so when you really get into something (dungeons/fractals, PvP, WvW) you start to see all the warts and the inconsistencies that you didn’t notice when it wasn’t your primary source of enjoyment in the game.

one can contrive “argument” out of anything. but then there is mmr to match soloQ newbies with newbies and pro’s with pro’s. then someone will say that mmr is poor. then someone will say that its not poor but no algorithm will work without dense base. then someone will say that base needs rewards and anet should place better rewards in various gamemodes.
some fixates with single aspect of choice and with that fixation make possibly bad setup worse. there is no argument here, move on ppl.
Pvp is getting really boring. Everyone playing the same builds, Skyhammer is a ridicilous map in SoloQ. The only builds you get there is either decap engi, mesmer with focus, LB ranger etc. They dont even bother to fight anymore, just throwing people off. They should just remove Skyhammer from the maprotation in ranked games.
Im playing a lot but this has never been an issue to me. Just climb up into the top1000 and there wont be any afk´ers at all. Who cares about afk´ers at the bottom of the ladder? Everyone playing on a regularly basis is top1000 anyway.
Just mix it up with other games like im doing. But make sure those games are different, even if theyre MMOs.

I don’t know what all this nonsense you posted here is but it has nothing to do with the point I made. Perhaps you are just dense, perhaps you are a troll.
In any case, anet just needs to remove the Reward Track Progression limit that currently exists on Hotjoin.
well, i come back from a break to be shouted at by random strangers because apparently it’s the duty of the thief to carry the team, and we lost, so it had to be my fault.
i also got to see people running teamq matches without armor.
i’m wondering if i should’ve bothered coming back.
Agree with u, soloq is worst then hj, so i dont play it anymore, and team is fine only with a full team, since release i didnt found yet other 4 ppl playing same time a bit skilled i hope in some competitive 2v2 will be easyer do something

I second this. I’ve been enjoying Smite much more. Balance patches come out every 2 weeks, the game is well balanced, and the matches can be very good.
I really see WvWvW as the only reason to play GW2. There are free games out there with better PVP (LoL, Smite) and free games out there with better PVE (SWTOR, Rift).

Soloque is awful..

I think they wanted to make sure hotjoins remained a good place for casual players to play against each other. In other words, people who are not casual (let’s say they play for 2+ hours/day) would be less likely to play hotjoin the entire time. It’s not perfect, but I can definitely see the logic.

Check my post in your other thread. There are certainly unfortunate things about the patch and the playerbase has not gotten friendlier, but with a few adjustments I think you would be fine.
I highly recommend soloq if you’re a masochist.
Heavens Rage
Yea for real; Soloque is like sticking your jolly richard in a meat grinder, realizing what you’ve done, and then saying “Huh, maybe it wont be as bad the 2nd time around”
I was up to rank 29 at one point playing warrior but then I wanted to git gud at thief, ele, and guardian, and so I lost a lot of rating learning those new classes. Now with the insurgence of scrubs into soloq it’s extremely difficult to rise back up because most of my progress is getting muted by 4v5’s. Idk why but I feel like I get a lot more 4v5’s than I do 5v4’s.

Don’t worry about the leaderboards. They don’t mean anything, there are way too many factors in soloq for people to take them seriously. Just play the game and forget about it. If you’re not having fun anymore, I recommend just taking a break from it.

only thing i worry about is getting my MMR back up so I can hopefully escape the scrubfest…. until I want to learn a new class again lol
The main issue for me is the bunker meta. Bunker vs bunker is incredibly boring and dps vs bunker should be won by the bunker.
Just not fun.
Reward tracks not being improved are hurting the fun value. I do not need more dungeon armor.

One of the best analogies I’ve seen recently, haha.
