realy reallyyy disapointed
If you’re somewhat new to the game I’d get your feet wet in unranked for the time being. Learn your build and the builds of other classes before trying ranked.

Is a good place to start looking for a build, as for not understanding what’s going on with the game and abilities coming at you, that comes with time and playing games. There are also plenty of video guides on the internet to help you and try to get you acclimated.
Learning the game is rough in pvp, it takes awhile to really get semi decent at but that’s dedication. Also matchmaking is kinda sketchy in ranked at the moment too, depending on if you constantly lose in a row your mmr goes into the toilet and it’s hard to recover :/ Best of luck.
d. I thought that matchmaking system is supposed to make matches between equally skilled opponents.
Those are words that ANET can’t grasp.
I thought that matchmaking system is supposed to make matches between equally skilled opponents. But it doing anything except that. Its so far worst matchmaking system that I ever seen (and I mean exactly that).
current match making find 4 other players with similar skill to you and put you in a team of 5.
it does not consider the other team ’s skill level.
I love GW2 pvp, but I have to warn you that the learning curve is pretty steep. Do play in ranked for now: stick to unranked. Try to duel a friend to get better reflexes, and as someone already said, grab a working build for your profession on metabattle.
“I’m completely new to pvp and I’m losing ranked games so I concluded that pvp in this game is bad.”
ok
This so called matchmaking system is worse than no matchmaking system at all. Literally. It teams up players who was unlucky enough to get few loses with other people who lost making high chances that there will be afker or deserter in team so increasing chances to lose that leads to even worse team. And those teams are made to fight team that has players with mostly wins that increases chance to get one sided fight even more. Faaantastic!
unranked – 12W/12L
ranked – 13W/30L

the matchmaking is designed to let good players rise and keep the bad ones down. the matchmaking in season 1 on the other hand matched you with players of the same skill already in the first division which allowed low level players to advance equally which is obviously wrong.
while it might be hard for some players, it’s actually working as intended.

Lol its not…. this idea of yours, has been debunked over and over again. This new system hands High MMR players a win and low MMR players a loss. If you watch any of the pro streamers on twitch, you d realized how stupid you sound; even up there, few are those who get competitive games; most usually win by 300 points or lose by 300 pts. So the system is not designed to advanced high skilled players faster ( MMR doesn’t not always equate to skills, it’s segregating based on MMR.
On top of that new players are given average MMR, which might end up being higher than a diamond player who tried so hard to get to legendary last season.

you will never get a competitive match in queue anyway.. if you wanna have a competitive match then grab a team and scrim or play a tournament.. that’s how it has always been.

I disagree … I had lots of competitve games last season and still having some this season. The problem is that the probability of having those games is low since our algorithm is X vs X. What you will encounter most of the time is either a Higher MMR against a low MMR teams or vice versa, seldom will you see 500 vs 500.
