/resign [Merged]
just had a comeback after being down 100 points on the forest map.. somehow we won by 3 capping and killing both beast after wiping the other team. if this was an option we would have probably resigned and lost..
some people call gg being down 50 points heh

would love to have resign vote system. now i have to waste 5 min per some games
I wouldn’t mind if it required a unanimous vote.

There’s a difference in being a 100 points behind when your opponents are at ~300-400, and being a 100 points behind when your opponents are at 100. In second case, don’t expect any miraculous reversal unless someone disconnects (and likely not even then).
Remember, remember, 15th of November
Resign could be good, but would removed a lot of the “come back” games that I really like.
Even, the guy that start the Resign, if the other don’t agree can AFK anyway.
The real solution is to give all players their OWN MMR. After each fight, each player can see the MMR details with minus and plus points affecting the result. So that way each player would play with responsibility in mind.
Losing games with too much gap, rekt your MMR. And to queue with good random, you need to be good too.
They can even go further like giving the possibilities to keep it private or public, so if you need to show OFF you could, if not you don’t.
they could put a color scheme to explain the difference of each team MMR. So if you got a way better ennemy mmr team, a RED light could make you work harder for that MMR gain… or a GREEN light for low mmr team, would say if you lose versus them, you will get MMR Rekt.

We were down 100 points if not more for quite a bit of time. Had a very bad start. I thought game was lost tbh. Somehow a miracle happened
Just saying that some may rather resign instead of even trying to comeback. If it is a vote system that each player has to vote on, I don’t see those that pick resign actually trying to comeback if the vote doesn’t go there way.
Oh well, just my thoughts on it. Some matches are blowouts and even I wish I could just end them sooner somehow lol
I see it like this; your pug team starts off with two thieves and a warrior, they won’t change classes, and yet, still somehow expect to win. This is why I want /resign, because I hate getting stuck in games with a sure loss from the start.
I don’t know how I feel about this….
It would be nice IF 5 out 5 agreed…
However, chances are you will have 1-2 people who will refuse just to troll or to “punish” the other 3 if they feel those 3 are just bad.
Obviously, there will have to be a pip loss for forfeiting… but maybe add another mechanic or system into play? If you forfeit 3 times within an hour, you are given a 5 minute dishonor?
I can see this becoming a “well we lost mid at the start… everyone forfeit so we can get into the next game” rinse and repeat till you win the mid fight and have a lead.

Haha, i just played thief a couple of games and my team would have resigned from the first seconds.
This would be fine but there are way too many things that arent balanced atm, so they should probably fix those first.

Simple solution would be to enable the /resign function a couple of minutes in to a game, lets say 3 or when the enemy team reaches a certain score. This way ppl will not be motivated to resign out of the gate, and the function becomes available just about when you see whether or not a match is a doomed blow out.
Those comeback games are few, and far in between though.
I wouldn’t mind it under the following situations.
1. A player has deserted. (DC or rage quit). Give the team the option to Resign if they aren’t back in the 2 min period. – No pip loss.
2. When the point gap reaches 250 point difference on conquest. (Very hard to get back from). Pip loss.
I don’t like just looking at team match ups and saying /resign. Team ability hasn’t been tested. Many matches were i’ve had the superior team on paper i’ve been trashed and other games i’ve had the inferior team on paper and won.
Back in GW1, there was a function that I and many others made frequent use of in PvP and GvG. This function was a chat command that set a flag for voluntarily losing the round or exiting a PvE instance.
The command was /resign.
I did a number of runs today and lost virtually all of them due to a player or, in one case, two players that simply gave up at the very beginning of the round due to something they saw and deemed an instantaneous losing situation. I would like a /resign function because:
1. It will allow players to express themselves (at the very least).
2. It would give Anet a countable measure of how often a particular player just gives up, which can be factored into MMR or somesuch thing
3. It would enable players to end an inevitably losing round without suffering needless pummeling from the winning team.
A slight modification I might make to the way it was in GW1 is that in GW1, the entire team had to /resign to end the round. It is my belief that there are many players that will never, ever, /resign. As such, I believe a 3/5 vote to /resign is reasonable.
I definitely recall that this has been suggested before, and I’m sure it will be again, I simply wanted to express the idea again in my own semi-coherent fashion.

Couldn’t agree with you more.
Right now the pvp feels like it tends to snowball after the first crucial fights in a match, and as the match goes on its harder and harder to keep up if you’re already losing let alone make a comeback.
Agree 10/10.
Xaiixmael – 80 Revenant
Tyriark – 80 Reaper, Xytrael – 80 Daredevil, Lythios – 80 Warrior
Agreed 100%, would prefer infinitely to just forfeit a bad matchup (almost all of them) than waste my time playing a guaranteed loss.
Would also fix the problem of players just alt tabbing or ragequitting and wasting others time as well.
3rd post about /resing! WOOT!~
Totally need a /resign command
Agree with everything about /resign but this part:
2. It would give Anet a countable measure of how often a particular player just gives up, which can be factored into MMR or somesuch thing
If /resign adversely affected your MMR then NO ONE will use it and you’ll be forced to wait until the game ends naturally.
How every it worked in Guild Wars 1 would work fine in Guild Wars 2.

The issue is that most pvp players don’t know how to adapt. Like if you lose mid fight initially it doesn’t mean to bang your head and go for mid all game because they have a better 4v4 comp against you. Play sides. On top of that if you are on staggered respawn you shouldn’t just go straight into a bad fight and die again.
It doesn’t snowball but people allow it to snowball due to bad play and a complete lack of understanding of basic pvp mechanics

Implementing a /resign function isn’t specifically about players playing badly or tactical error.
There is virtually nothing that ANet can do about the way players play the game. The matchmaking system itself, flawed as it may appear, is an incredible feat of controlling player-player interactions.
Even very high MMR players desire to rage or /resign when things go south, not naming any names here, but we all know someone who will rage at the drop of a hat despite being matched fairly with equally skilled players.
All ANet can do is give us tools like /resign to help us deal with each other.
