Hey everybody,

(This is my first forum post, so I hope I don’t break any rules!)

Has ArenaNet provided any timetable for upcoming PVP options besides capture the objective?

This has been a very entertaining/addicting game mode, however, it’s allure is starting to wear thin. I read a couple posts about Team Deathmatch, but it seems we already have that (people not playing the current game mode like it’s meant to be played).

What about other game modes like capture the flag or other team-fight objectives such as attack/defend some point of siege, etc.

The developers could even use the same maps for now and simply change the game mode, to save time/resources.

It seems the primary argument against these other modes is how well the class balance will scale to the game type. It’s been a long time since I played Guild Wars 1, but Hall of Heroes was, by far, my favorite aspect of the game (bring back arena!!).

Anyway, what do you all think?

More game modes are going to be absolutely crucial for this game’s longevity.

The current focus on 5v5 – 3 node conquest is really limiting the appeal of tPvP and ANet is aware of this.

But I’m sure new game-modes are already in the works and this has been a common complaint from the get go. However it will probably take a few more months at least until we see a new game-mode introduced.

CTF is a given and by far the most commonly requested game mode.

But even 4 point domination, objective based PvP (aka. Assault) or a larger Conquest style map would be conceivable. Hell you could even have an MMO version of DotA going on.

The only problem I see is that the focus on 5 man teams will limit the potential of future game modes.

Well, considering how the game is structured, as there isn’t the holy trinity and every class can do a bit of everything, there’s no limit to the game modes you could come up with.
I think a system like this is very adaptable to a number of situations, and even if now we’re used to the 5 people team setup, nothing stops the devs from pushing it to 10, 15 or more.
A team with more than 5 people would require different maps tho, much bigger than the ones we got now. Hell, maybe even our current control points game could work with 10 people, but in that case you should put something like 5 control points around the map. :P

(class stronger than mine) is OP. (my class) is underpowered. (classes I beat easily) are fine.
