I really like PvE and WvW isn’t bad either but I just can’t get into sPvP. I’m not sure why but as soon as I hear that half wit sailor voice announcing sPvP it doesn’t feel like “game on” anymore, and overall ruins the experience for me. Now I know some people actually like it ( I think ), But why not have some different announcer voices? You can even sell them on the Gem Store. ( please no more Unreal Tournament announcer/ lines ).
Do you guys think this should be done? It would increase the merchandise for sPvP’s.

Yes, I think this is definitely an area that could use some improvement. Overall, I’d rather have either the over the top, Unreal Tournament kind of announcer, or something way more subtle such as Caithe of Zojia. Now it’s kind of meh, I’d definitely spend gems for a different announcer.

“you have lost the keep” affect the whole team that’s where the announcer comes in
as for your “DENIED!”. Hmm, rallying other players or scoring a kill happen a bit too often to have a PvP announcer voice there (you see, it is why they lowered the frequency of “Yer Lord is under addack~~~”). If you do it gets…really annoying XD

My thoughts are more on implementing new voices for existing lines first, though. You know it would still stink even worse if dat Jon guy continues to do the kill count voices, right?
Besides, since ArenaNet is all about ART (even balancing eles) I doubt devs would just do a Dota-ripoff (I mean, c’mon those lines ARE from a Wacraft III map XDD)

“Shut Down” (when you where killed many ppl for a long time without being killed but suddenly killed now)
“Denied” interrupting stomps
“Revived” team mate revived
“Executed” killed by mobs like svanir or chief
“Defeat”

I would be really exciting to play pvp if we have that. Also they need like 3 or more different tone of 1 announcement to make it not annoying if we hear it more than once like “Your Lord is blah blah blah” i find it really annoying.

Well, it’s just the voice from another game.XD
However, I think that the announcer is one of the reason why pvp seems more like a minigame than part of the world.
From what I’ve got, spvp is set on the mists. Players go there as some sort of pioneers, and are pitted against each other by spirits for amusement.
What if players were described as mercenaries fighting for groups trying to get hold of the mists?
This way, we might add an announcer that sounds more like a guy giving directions to the team.
You will never be able to know what an engineer is going to do next…

I dont think we are pitted against each other for amusement…this is not Heroes of the Storm. But yes, players are the vanguards in the Mists, so it would seem

The current announcer, though, is a pirate. What doesn’t make sense is that people like US LISTEN TO HIM

Make a Zojja one that calls the other team “cowards” all the time (e.g.: The cowards have taken your point!), make it a permanent account unlock, and I may consider it.
