Conjure is a cool mechanic :/
1. Requires SOME teamwork ; hopefully with buffs they will tone down durations/uses
2. Adds interesting skills to other classes.

What i think is bad for the game and avoidable is that balance is done 80% of the time with spvp in mind, when it’s the least played and the balance of pve or wvw is way way worst.
There is little to no evidence of this really. When you think about it logically almost anything that is a problem in spvp is a problem at the very least in WvWvW because of things like ludicrous buff durations and super inflated stats that exist in WvWvW.

We are lucky enough to have game nights with guys from WOTC (they make Magic:TG) and I got into a great conversation with one of their devs. I was talking about balancing an MMO vs a CCG,
See that’s what bugs me.
GW1 Was inspired by MTG, and GW2 claimed it would be as well — but it’s really not. Not even a little. I read this and was kind of hoping you’d admit that fact.
Bad for the player good for the game is the kind of advanced conversation that you just aren’t mature enough to have. So much goes into this that you fail to grasp.
Lets look at Blizzard. Blizzard played round robin with their classes, buffing some to great heights while others toiled. This had the effect you’re talking about because people spent so much time creating and raising a toon. There was an investment.
When you just make a PvP character in full gear, you lack that investment, so nerfing a class isn’t ‘bad for the player good for the game’ it’s just ‘oh okay meh. You’ve reduced the depth of strategy of the game by 1 class or build.’
You don’t seem to realize this, you seem to live in a world where people have a toon they identify with and play exclusively. That isn’t competitive gaming.

1) They identified early in the development process that it was a bad idea to chain PvE and PvP together like that, and promised they would balance the two separately.
2) Their PvE is such a joke of face roll easy that I honestly don’t see why they bother. There are two modes,
a. I can see enemy animations and press ‘immune’ when I’m supposed to. So I use melee weapons and go fast
b. I have special needs and so I go ranged, where I can afford to miss a few dodges
Why do we care if we upset the delicate balance of easy and medium. No hard mode exists. This game is not at risk of making it’s PvE content unplayably difficult or unchallanging, It will never be either.

I know a lot of pver’s that were shocked by a lot of patches, why the hell they do that to the warrior!!, well, it’s easy, because warrior is bad in spvp and since they balance around spvp, it doesn’t matter how good or overplayed is in pve . The elementalists were even more funny, why are they nerfing me ? my class is way worse than the warrior!! well, it so happens that in spvp eles were really good bunkers, so.. well, have a nice day .
WvW has slightly better balance, but there is some really funny things, like runes that apply confusion for every interrupt without internal cooldown, tried them with an engi with lots of cc, i wouldn’t call them balanced but it was a fun experience (for me, for my enemies not so much) . And the mass warrior hammer meta is hilarious too.
Since spvp it’s, well, a bit of a failure, i don’t think it would be bad to start balancing around pve or wvw.
I get the feeling the people helping Jon are all ‘Yes Men’ they don’t tell him what he needs to hear. I have seen the same thing in many video games, where the alpha testers all worship the devs and they don’t point out the glaring errors. Same thing happened in this game when it was in Alpha and Closed Beta, the people pointing out issues were loudly shouted down by fan boys.
Devs believe in Conquest so much that it’s almost like fanaticism. To many, it doesn’t work. People have left the game already. And I’m becoming a convert too. Now, everytime i zone solo queue now, all i see are bunker kitten builds that is meant to hold a point, op warrior and thief and kitten. And I get kitten ed. I ask myself if this is PvP. A voice in my head tells me that you need to imagine what my GW1 experience is.
The direction of build making is to make virtually all classes bunkery. Build diversity is sacrificed because of that. Killing or subverting a team is not that vital anymore.
sPvP is being pushed by the 2 Jons. It has its own community but its community is getting stale. WvWvW GvG, while not being supported officially, is very active and is being supported by the community massively. So which is meant to succeed using logic? I agree with Sacrx that people are deliberately siphoning people to play sPvP by implementing WvWvW changes that will not make GvG viable.
I’ve seen that before in GW1. Devs are putting more value in GvG than Tombs while Tombs has more players than GvG. They nerfed every popular FoTMs in Tombs to lessen Tombs population and promote GvG while doing it. It didn’t work. What happened was build diversity got hit and all you see was mirror fight GvGs and Tombs was dead.
So same story, same kitten. Devs never learn. Fanaticism will lead you no where. Go with what the community wants. It’s community effort like Linux/Android that is getting popular. If you get stubborn, it will lead you to kitten.

one of the main reasons spvp is the least played aspect of the game is the terrible balance, if they don’t balance it, not only no player will be attracted to it but the few that still play it will also quit and play something else.

You know why GW2 is selling? Not because of sPvP and E-sports. Look at the hotjoin servers and how many people are playing it.
Now, look at the PvE/RP/WvWvW population.
Why balance the game around sPvP? how about separating sPvP skills from PvE/WvWvW and balance them accordingly? Coz they are making it apprear like sPvP is the cashcow of GW2 and the priority of skill balance is from sPvP. Remember that you don’t capture 3 points in PvE and WvWvW.
The setup of skill balance in Game is crap.

Balance in general is crap! I agree also it is very clear the they prioritize pve over pvp players just look at all the pve patches constantly coming out wile pvp paches come once every 2-3 months…
Thing is, although e-sports,will never happen since there are close to no pvp players left, anet is trying to revive this aspect of the game (unsuccessfully imo). By insisting in this “dream” they heart the more healthy part of the game.
As a pure pvp player, I don’t care much about what they do to pve but I can imagine your frustration.
Can you imagine mine?… Trying to play competitively in a highly unbalanced game, waiting for hours for a tournament to pop, hot joining for a pvp fix and seeing that there are 6-10 active pvp rooms wile the other 200+ are empty….

ty for the update, but is there any possiblity that u can try to at least balance wvw a little? im so, so ,so sick of being a support and so sick of hammer warrior/necro and guardian trains and all i am allowed to do is veil them.this is not fun and im really losing hope here. spvp makes me as a wvw mesmer stuck and underpowered in wvw. and no i am not a roamer and will never be. id like to have the opportunity to actually fiight in zergs and be successful with it with my chosen class.
it wasnt in my job description to be a veilbot that portals golems and be a support only.
in none of the games i ever played(which is a ton) i never ever ever choose support classes ever. so please fix this mess.
balance is very important in wvw. its not fun to run with your mesmer group into a hammerwarrior group and getting destroyed even though u are way more coordinated then them and all they press is a few autoattacks and cc’s while your attacks are so weak(because being specced into toughness=less dps) that they will never have less than 75 percent of their health.
i feel stuck in this mess, because spvp mesmer does well. now i get more support kitten…ugh. im losing hope….and i really love your game…..
