sPvP needs new game types, for example...
TBH I’d like the devs of this sort of thing focusing on obs mode, ranking/matchmaking and other key functions before adding in new game modes.
+ #2 isnt PvP.
I think capture the flag would be fun.
Zomebie waves just sounds like some pve though so I don’t see why it would be spvp. :o But it could be fun anyway.
I’m not so sure about Kill the King though. It just feels like it wouldn’t work very well.
I’d love to see some deathmatch mode though. When you just simply need to kill the other team.

Zombies waves? Return to L4D please, if Zombies waves are implemented in sPvP I leave the game.
Yea definately some new maps, its high time. They should be doubled to 8 maps imo, but I’d like to see them high quality too. I’ll bet they are hard at work on some paid content however.

3v3 Team Deathmatch would make a much better game for pugs and casuals:
No communication needed for teamplay (just kill and res)
Could make full use of terrain (less zerging with no circles to stand in)
Thieves couldn’t just bail on fights/allies
Glass cannons couldn’t use the herd for protection
Bunkers would guard allies instead of points
Rangers could stay ranged and win, not stand in the melee circle
12 pieces of a.i. and your uncles rock dog: still annoying
Of course, making a solid pvp game may come 2nd to making an e-sport out of one
Players to Makers: Why don’t you cash in now by making the best pvp game ever, via bug fixes, another mode, dyes in battle, and perhaps a fix to conquest’s scoring?
Rabid Fan-Boy to Players: Stupid meta, just learn how to play your game and have fun
Execs: so when are they gonna turn this into a self-perpetuating e-sport cash-cow?
Devs: oh man, if I could only do things my way…
There should be some attack/defend objectives style play. Make it a tiny, tiny version of WvWvW, not unlike many other games already have.
Team Red has to breach and destroy objective A/B/C before time expires. Team blue defends. etc
3v3 Team Deathmatch would make a much better game for pugs and casuals
I totally agree with you, I think I’d spend a lot of time deathmatching!
Just for all the arena supporters, Mesmer and thiefs would make “arena” mode unplayable. Thiefs guild, moa, time warp, mass invi. In a 3v3 those are win buttons.
Spvp needs also a whole new reward system. Never before have I seen a system which consequently encourages you to play a battleground NOT in the spirit it was made.
You get rewarded for:
1. Ganging up / “Zerging”
2. Swapping bases instead of defending them
You get punished for:
1. 1. Defending bases (you are usually outnumbered, get killed, get zero points for it whereas someone who just runs around on the map and kills gets points)
1. 2. Defending bases – swapping them back and forth yields more points for both teams
Never before I have seen such a kitten poor design. I bet the guy who made the necromancer minion AI was also responsible for that

In the chaos of battling even more people along side them (while also trying to focus on objectives), those extremes are merely magnified. They need to be dealt with no matter what mode, and are just as great a detriment in 1v1, if not more.
I don’t see how having another option will ruin things. Tpvp conquest is niche, and it’s the only thing acceptable. The largest demographic and most accessible mode is being sacrificed to polish conquest into e-sports gold. Pvp and the current plan moving forward seems very inflexible and narrow.
People cry about mesmers in the current system, but trying to fight mesmers when there is no point they need to hold or attack increases their strength ridiculously. If they don’t suck they will kite you through their phantasms long enough and its gg.
I think mesmers are pretty balanced (outside of portal repair) in TPvP, but after some experience fighting mesmers in WvWvW I realized how important having an objective is to balancing the fighting power of mesmers.
Capture the Flag is an obvious game type that sPvP should have.
Aside from being able to queue as a group too
a lot of people will be disappointed they are not it.
i loled pretty hard at zombie waves.

lol. Hey, at least he’s trying. Alot of cool pvp games do it, right?
I think that could be an interesting pve mini-game later on (heck, they already have the risen), but they’ll need some solid pvp options first.
I would like to see capture the flag too. It seems like they could lock out skills when you carry the flag and eliminate many apparent exploits.

Now I won’t be able to sleep at night until they implement a Risen-based Tower Defense, complete with siege weapon deployments that can be pre-configured to auto-fire with given parameters (power for cats/trebs, direction, etc.). They could even go Sanctum on it and allow players to contribute towards the damage done/spend upgrade money on weapons instead of “towers”.
But yes, additional PvP modes are needed more. For now. Though you could have competitive TD.
“He’s like a man with a fork in a world of soup.”
Yea ok #2 isn’t PvP but it would still be fun I think.
I really like the idea of deathmatch that would be a lot of fun.
And yes, more maps will be crucial. That was one thing I hated about WoW pvp. Warsong Gulch (CTF) was awesome but running the same map over and over was boring as fudge. Same thing for the other game types. I actually enjoyed WoW pvp but the lack of maps were the problem.
So far GW2 has 4 maps for 1 game type. That’s a good start. But they will need more maps and more game types to hold people’s interest.
Zombie waves in the pvp side of the game while theres a pve side of the game?
How can this even be considered to be in there? i mean seriously?
Capture the flag could be alright but would require alot of skills/builds to be changed (Guardian walks to flag, guardian takes flag, people hit guardian, guardian doesnt care, guardian scores flag, guardian claps hands, guardian repeats)
Capture the Flag, Team Deathmatch, Deathmatch, Duels, Attack/Defend… there are so many options for more variety. Toss in some additional maps and you’ve increased the fun factor of SPvP immensely due to variety.
Tower defense would be fun, but it’s more of a PvE thing.
Hutt ball! I actually hated it at first but got to be my favorite part of swtor.
CTF is obvious. There are variations on CTF too like if the flag goes back on drop or stays where it is for a time then goes back, or just one flag both teams are after (like huttball!). While carrying the flag you could replace skills with “flag skills” so bunker builds lose some of their active defenses.
Zombie (risen) wave map could be made as a dungeon, it is pve. It might be fun too.

I’d just hope that they’d look at what FPS games do with their maps and tailor alternative versions of the map to the game mode being played rather than the way WoW links the mode to the specific map.
While #2 isn’t necessarily PvP unless you force a PvP element to it (one team plays zombies, other defends a keep), it’s nice to see someone thinking about what they’d like to see in the game besides crying about “the current meta.” I’m convinced someone is getting paid every time the phrase “current meta” is used.
I have my own alternate mode of the game. It’s a drinking game while reading the spvp forums. Drink 2 for “current meta, bunker, and portal.” Drink 3 for “glass cannon.” Take a shot whenever “glass cannon” is used correctly.
