since the upcoming living story is “fractured” why not we have a 8 vs 8 hotjoin map based on the fractals theme? it would be a large map catered for 8 vs 8 or even 10 vs 10 with 5 capture points instead of 3.

then perhaps finally people can stop blaming 8 vs 8 hotjoin for ruining sPvP.

imagine we have a fractured map with everything!
1. the whole map itself would be somewhere in the mists, kinda like the fractal of the mist lobby, if you fall down, you die, there is no bottom.

2. all gameplay features from all sPvP maps are inside this new fractured sPvP
- cannon balls, cannon, ship from raid on the capricorn
- jump pads, breakable glass panels, skyhammer cannon from skyhammer
- altar of ascension from spirit watch
- meditations from temple of the silent storm
- forest creatures from forest of niflhel
- castles with breakable gates, guild lords from legacy of the foefire
- destructible terrains, trebuchets from battle of kyhlo

3. fractured means a portion of each map is sliced off and then thrown together in one big map, catered for hotjoin 8 vs 8 or 10 vs 10 madness.

4. the different themed maps are not really connected, players must do a simple jump to get across to the other side, imagine jumping around in the jade maw fractal level.

5. guild lords have more health, say x2.5 from original, have additional guards inside lords room. 5 soldiers and 5 casters. guild lords worth team 150 points.

6. both gates have guards, 1 gate guardian, 2 soldiers, 2 casters. each gate supervisor is worth 25 team points.

7. additional guards inside the castle. i.e. u need a proper team to storm the castle now.

8. there would be jump pads at edges for spirit carrier to jump across since their movement speed would be slowed.

refer to attached image for an idea of how the map may be. black color means void, players need to jump across to reach other places.

this map will never be competitive of course. think of it as a playground for 8 vs 8, other than raid on the capricorn.

Don’t know how you would seemlessy patch them together even with the “jump between them” thing. Besides with all those mechanics even a 10v10 would struggle to do all of that, kind of wasting content.

Interesting concept and has potential just not sure this is the right way to implement it.

p.s. What happens when a new map comes out? It won’t be apart of this and then it kind of defeats the purpose of having a “slice of every map” . I’m pretty sure anet isn’t gonna update the map every time either because mechanics and terrain would change which could create implications.

well, it would be a good “slice of every map” at the time of its introduction.

errr if its a bit too big then maybe need to cut down the size a bit.

the general idea is to have a larger map catered for 16 – 20 players.

hmmm why not? there are already enough “tournament” or “arena” maps going around.

only one “raid on the capricorn” is not in the solo arena or team arena map rotation so i see that as a “playground” map for casual sPvP players.

but it seems like all the pvp game servers i see max is 10 vs 10, even for custom arenas.

even for southsun survival, max is 20 players per room?

Well, maybe in a MOBA style map:

teams get one base each. The goal is to destroy the enemy base. Each team has a “cannon” that puts particular objects in the area. These objects spawn enemies, that head to the enemy base.

Then you can make different limitations, add towers and so on.

a special cannon that launches “friendly NPC spawning machines” into various locations into the map. sounds interesting.

maybe some new asuran cannon?

launches a mini golem factory into the air, flies up high, then lands down hard, like those warhammer 40k space marines space pods, i.e. doing massive AOE damage upon landing, launching everything 1,200 away?

then it will produces golems automatically until destroyed?
or at least until its supply is drained, and team members have to re-supply it?

how does that sound?

aw, come on, the map would be big enough for you to play on the non skyhammer areas right?

say for example, the skyhammer cannon can only target areas around B.

the glass panels and all would be also near skyhammer B part too.

it has been a while but i am sure there are other players who desire such a large map for good chaotic fun!

a map for 10 vs 10 battles!

currently all existing maps are designed for 5 vs 5 players and feel very cramped.

Cheap Enviromental Weapons
(looking at you skyhammer and trebuchets.)

Troll Playgrounds
(ledges made purely for troll builds to stealth and knock enemies from.)
(Skyhammer in a nutshell)

Water Combat
(it just doesn’t work…though i have no doubt they’ll probably release an entire map of water combat…)

an idea for the next map would be to add a pit in the center,
and any kills made in that pit add 10-15 points for your team.
or just make that the entire map and don’t add any conquest points, TDM!

kinda like the meditation of ferocity except that it is stationary and is always activated in a particular area.

well, for the rest of the “do not wants” i think they are better off in non tournament maps.

let casual players run wild in the non tournament maps and let the tournament players practice in tournament maps.

everyone is happy, yes?

And be careful with the size of the battlefield: too big and the fight is a mess, too small and the fight is a mess.

well, all the current maps seems to be well designed for 5 vs 5 tournament play, at least that is what i think.

aye, yeah, kinda like that. but eotm is for PvE WvW characters though. and too large scale, too zergy.

maybe something for sPvP characters, and not so big the map, but larger than current conquest maps for 10 vs 10 sPvP hotjoin mess.

a map that hotjoin players will want to play in.

then perhaps people will stop blaming hotjoin players for bad tournament games experience as the maps are different.
