Smite is now in beta, and apparentlly allreadyhas a 100 k tourny on the way. how do yall think this new moba will affect gw 2 pvp?

Looks really polished for a game thats only in beta.
I don’t think it will hurt gw2 much. I assume people that play this game like its style.
gw2 is far from moba.

Smite has to compete with DOTA 2, and from what Ive seen so far Dota 2 is also still in beta and has a lot more viewers then SMITE. dont compare GW2 to smite or dota2 as it doesnt make sense at all

SMITE is just a moba whereas GW2 is an MMO. Thats like saying the newest CoD vs GW pvp.

Structured PvP in Guild Wars 2 is essentially a MOBA. I don’t think the MMO defense really works.

Competitive players will flock to the largest and most promising Esports scene. In this regard, LoL is succeeding as an eSport due in no small part to their funding of their own scene. I hear they’ve even absorbed some players from the fighting games, which goes to show how effective money is as an incentive and how limited talented players can be.

I dont think it will affect GW2.
However, I’d say you can compare Smite (MOBAs) and GW2 to some extend, since the way role works would be the optimal way for GW2 as well.
No holy trinity, but different roles are still required and equally important.
That is what GW2 should strive for.
Balanced builds are fine to have, but atm they are simply too strong.
A good example would be the BM Ranger Spec and the Ele pre-nerf.

you can actually play smite solo thats the difference.
I personally hope it affects gw2 in the worst possible way.Devs need a kick in the kitten for not doing anything for this games casual or solo pvp experience

Smite has better infrastructure for casual play.
Though I know me and a bud have been playing Smite more than GW2. Actually I don’t know if he’s ever coming back. Intra-profession balance turns people off.

wow, alot of people seem to be disappointed in spvp, i really enjoy it. hopefully after they finish with the custom arena beta, they will have some new game types available.
